Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I have two labradoodles aged 4 years and 3 years. Over the last week one of them (my thoughts change every day on who.....) is weeing on the floor at night.  They were both crate trained and it is very rare that we have accidents at all.  I have made sure that they are going out just before we go to bed at night but it is still happening.

Do you think I need to go right back to putting them in crates? Im at a loss as to what to do...

Thanks everyone

I would take the urine sample to the vet to see if he/she may be suffering from UTI...When my late Chow started to have accident in the house, he was suffering from UTI, which I had no idea.... I think if the dog was housebroken, and suddenly starts to have accidents, it is always good to rule out the medical possibilities....

I agree with Kyoko, for dogs at that age to suddenly start having accidents there is usually a medical reason. You just have to figure out which dog it is and get them checked.

I agree with the others.

maybe if I crate one tonight I'll at least be able to work out which one it is.......  and then go from there.

Thanks :-)

I agree - time for the vet. There are simple curable medical conditions, as well as serious ones where incontinence is a symptom.

Yep - to the vet for a check up.

Sounds like a UTI.

 Appointment booked for tomorrow :-)

Not to start a panic here, but this is the exact scenario that led to Sophie's diagnosis of lymphoma.    There was an accident in their room over night.  Accidents never happen so I immediately assumed UTI and took samples for both girls to the Vet the next day as I didn't know which (although I suspected Sophie as the inside of her leg was slightly damp).  Urine samples came back negative.  Fast forward 5 weeks and many tests later, we started Chemo.  My girls were 4.  So, I would get the samples of both to the Vet just to be sure.  Will be watching for an update.

I would also say it might be a UTI.  Get it checked out.  And get them both checked.  It is unusual that their nighttime habits would change.

Went to the vet today and he said that urine came back normal.  Ollie has a bit of a gunky ear setting in so we are treating that (I suspect it was Ollie with the accidents).  All temperatures were fine, he said he thought it would have been raised if they had an infection.

He has told me to keep an eye on them and if it continues we will send there urine off to be tested at a lab.  After all of this we didnt have a problem last night....

Thanks again everyone - Ollie and Murphy send big kisses to Sophie, hope she is coping with it all ok

Thanks for letting us know about your vet trip.  I hope the accidents were just a one of a kind sort of thing and that there are no further problems.
