Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Frequently I read posts where people say how Nature’s Miracle is one of the best products out there. In anticipation of moving into a new house with a ton of carpet, I went out and purchased a bottle of my very own. I used it a couple of times in my temporary housing apartments to clean up some doodle vomit and it didn’t seem like anything special. Then we moved into the house and I had to use it on more vomit and I decided that regular old carpet cleaning spray seemed to do a better job on the stain, yet I continued to see people mentioning Nature’s Miracle in their posts. Today I got home from work and found a nice bile stain in the middle of my hallway carpet. I figured I would give that Nature’s Miracle one more try. I dabbed at the spot and then sprayed the Nature’s Miracle and it didn’t do anything. I sat there grumbling to myself and finally sat back and read the back of the bottle to see if I was using it wrong. Oh boy, was I ever!!
Here is what the bottle said to do: “Spray coat generously and evenly. Brush through coat. Avoid contact with eyes. Use as needed.” I was soooo confused. I turned the bottle over and really looked at the front, which apparently I didn’t do when I bought it because here is what I have:
A quick trip to Petco and I purchased the right product. I came home armed with a bottle of the lemon scented variety and the one made especially for wood floors which was a very smart decision because I came home to a few big puddles of bile and wet doodle paw prints all over the whole first floor. Wonder if they make a product to remove that vomit smell from their paws.
I still feel like an idiot for trying to use a shampoo to clean my carpets and floors. Please tell me that some of you have done something this “brilliant” before.

Yep, I have put the milk in a drawer rather than refrigerator, sprinkled balsamic vinegar on my stir fry instead of sesame oil, etc. I suspect you are in good company on DK!
I didn't even know they made shampoo! But I would assume that it being shampoo would remove the vomit smell from their paws!
duh...i didn't even think of that. i'm still thinking of them just as floor cleaners. This shampoo thing is just not registering in my brain.
BAHAHA. This is great.
Here's my idiot moment... after I had my daughter I was so incredibly sleep deprived and was standing in the kitchen trying to multitask making her bottle and my cappuccino at the same time. Little did I know, I was putting her formula in my coffee cup and my cappuccino in her bottle! YIKES! Thank goodness I took the first drink! ACK!
So yeah... we've all been there :)
This could happen to anyone....how vague could that bottle possible be. I gave up on Nature's Miracle once the Doods were housebroken. It really isn't a very good carpet cleaner...but it does get rid of the odor that would make them want to go again in that spot. I use the carpet cleaner made by the manufacturer of our carpets or else the one that comes with the "green machine". They both do a great job on the bile. As for other "brilliant moves"...I can't think of any off the top of my head but I'm sure that Laurie has lots of them to share...LOL.
What about the regular cleaner on the stain? I know that they do ok on the smell but I wasn't sure about the yellow color. We always used the regular cleaner spray before but the carpet in our old house was old and berber and it had a pattern so you couldn't tell if there was a stain or not. Our new carpet is a light beige with no pattern and I' trying to avoid big yellow stains.
I've been able to get all the bile stains up with the "green machine" and the cleaner that comes with it. Just put the machine right on the spot and it removes the stain.
Mine is a Bissel so hopefully it works as well as your green machine.
Ha ha ha, that is too funny Amy ! I didn't even know they made shampoo. Who is doing all the vomiting ? That is not fun.
Well, if this shampoo is so darn good it should work on a wool rug : ) And it could have been worse. You might have shampooed the dog with some floor cleaner.
