On Monday Spud had his annual vet visit.

For one, I did not know, that after three years my vet required a Heart Worm random test.  Done. It was negative.  But a good rule all and all.

The funny thing was the vet enters the door and says, " So, you're here for another ear infection?"

Our history is that about this time of year they start.  Knock on wood, we still have a few months, but I quickly spoke up and said, " No. I've worked really hard NOT TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN. His ears better be just fine.  We are here for his Distemper,Heartworm, and Bordetella.  Please tell me I've done a good job"

He quickly gets out the scope to check on Spud's ears   :(  My heart sank for Spud.

I told him about Boric Acid and he laughed.  He had never heard of it, or of Thorn It Powder. .  I have hundreds of dollars in my vets  cleaning products and probably all good for the common dog, but any liquid products really made things worse on Spud. I tried. I really did but I only made things so much worse.

Yes, my dog smells funny but he does not smell of ear infections!   I've never seen a vet laugh so hard and he congratulated me on a job well done.   He said, he would have to remember that however I doubt he would recommend the use after just one dog.

Your dog does smell funny but he is healthy! Amazing

Hard to say, the eyes got better either because of or in spite of the wash and the miracle is I can still see. :>)

Absolutely horrible.  LOL   I'm sorry but some of the things we endured as children at the hands of adults is horrendous.

My dad was good enough to crack a window when he sparked up a giant stogie that he saved for the long car ride on the family vacation!

You guys are making me laugh. Sorry, the nasty truth has humor.

I see it ( horrible eyewash) and I smell Cigars~ horrible.

Spud, you smell okay now after the mention of cigars

Hahaha!!

I know this is an old post, but I was wondering how the ear infections and Spud is doing?  My dog "Spuds" developed his first ear infection at 14 half weeks old.  Another DK member recommended Thorn It.  I can't find that exact brand in US, but from what I am reading the main ingredient is boric acid?  I found a web site that sells a wet version of ear solution with boric acid in it. Just wondering which version I should get?

Hi Spuds,
We are still infection free. I caution that ThornIt should never be used to treat an infection. Only antibiotics and good vet care. When the dog is infection free, Thornit is used for preventative care.
We ordered ours from the UK. 100mls is all you can purchase to be brought into the US at a time but this lasts forever. We have used just about 1/4 of this Bottle this year.
The total cost was about $49,00
For us, it's priceless
I hope you find what works for Spuds, and he remains healthy!
