The last birthday that had any real significance to me was when I turned 21. At that point I was legal for anything and everything that birthdays could bring! All of them beyond that were just another year of wear and tear on the body. Just a number that kept getting bigger and bigger. Well, I now have a new appreciation for birthdays.
Today, the girls turn 5! I’m sure you are thinking 5, what is so significant about that. Somewhat young still, not old, just another year of Doodle lovin! Well, there was a point on Wednesday of this week that I didn’t think that our little Sophie girl was going to be celebrating this day with us. I had already started thinking to myself how sad today was going to be just celebrating with Lucy! However, someone was looking out for our baby girl and pulled her through and here we are today, one very happy little family of 4 enjoying a quiet day celebrating the most wonderful 5 years of our lives. While we realize it was only a bandaid and that the chances of seeing #6 would require nothing short of a miracle, we are so thankful that she is with us and feeling good and eating like a little piggy.
You have to have cookies and ice cream for your birthday!
I was shocked when Sophie ate her ice cream cone cookie. I think Lucy was waiting to see if Sophie wanted hers too!
It is nice and cold and the ground is frozen so lots of playtime outside today! YEAH
Our cookie even came with a candle!
Well ok, some of us share better than others! Lucy doesn't care though! I honestly think she would have eaten the whole thing if I hadn't taken it away! She can have a little more later on. After 4 days of watching her eat nothing, it is hard to deprive her, but don't want her tummy sick either!

Happy Birthday Lucy and Sophie! Looks like your celebration is very special for two darling Doodles:) Enjoy those treats!
Wow, thanks everyone. All sorts of special things like a poem, and glitter and flashing and cake and wow. All such fancy b-day wishes. The girls have had a fun day. Sophie was feeling up to it so we went to Petsmart to see the gerbils and hamsters (her favorite thing). We stopped and got their birthday cookies from Jack's Pets and then came home. Now she is crashed. Lucy had a good time getting some attention in Petsmart. Thanks to you all for joining in their special day!
Hmmm...maybe Sophie would like her very own gerbil, lol!
I actually had that a little wrong it is the guinnea pigs and hamsters she likes. And fish. It used to be the birds, but now it is all the others. I did honestly at one point consider getting a guinnea pig so she would get used to them because they have one at the Veteran's Home where she visits and she is an idiot around that guinnea pig. I thought it might help if there was one at home. But I really didn't want to have to take care of one.
I have a feeling Sophie and Lucy would have taken care of it, lol.
Oh what a celebration!! Happy, Happy Birthday to the girls!!
Happy, happy day!
Happy 5th Birthday Lucy and Sophie. Looks like you had a yummy celebration worthy of two beautiful doodlettes.
