My Doodle sheds! I didn't expect it at all. Was told he would be low to no shedding. Is it puppy hair? Will it get better?

We used to care about shedding... but now even when Luna blows her Winter coat (and that is a LOT of hair from a small dog...) we just laugh it off and clean up the tumbleweeds.  There's a reason I have a lint roller in my office drawer at work!

Ned doesn't really shed although I get a large handful of fur out when I brush him and I find little pin sized knots of fur on t-shirts when they come out of the washer or dryer.

Clancy SHEDS - lots.  I find doodle bunnies in all my corners, hairs are on everything we own.  I have given up trying to keep our clothing hair free.  We also have a Springer Spaniel.  They shed - not nearly as much as Clancy, not nearly!  I have read posts where someone's doodle shed as a pup but not as an adult or as an adult but not as a puppy or like Clancy probably did, sheds as a puppy and as an adult.  The unpredictability is part of having a mixed breed dog.

Did your breeder also tell you that your dog would be hypoallergenic?  Another myth.....

No i wasn't concerned about hypoallergenic, so didnt even ask. I keep lots of lint rollers on hand :) and i brush him with a Furminator...it helps, have to do it every few days.

My Oliver sheds but not on your clothes there are just tumble weeds on the floor... its strange but I don't have a problem with his type of shedding, I was lucky.  My Sasha does not shed.  I think with a doodle anything is possible.

You are lucky.  Camus sheds more than my lab/chow/shepard did, and his short curly hair weaves into fabric.  I use a lint roller, but inevitably there are hairs left behind that need to be pulled out!  Brushing helps, but not so much that it is really noticeable.

This is exactly my problem. I love microfleece, I live it in during the winter, and the clothes come out of the washer and dryer with dog hair woven into the fabric.

I could brush JD all day long and still get a brushful of hair. Even when he just shakes himself, hairs fly off of him. I have fostered German Shepherds who didn't shed as much or as constantly as he does.

Microfleece is so nice and warm, but I stopped wearing it. For now it is not a big deal since it does not get terribly cold in San Diego.  However, I am still planning on moving to France and will probably land somewhere in the Normandy region, where it does get cold. I guess I will learn to deal with wearing his coat; a new high-fashion look :)  I'm allergic to wool so fleece is the only other option.  JD and Camus are lucky we love them so much!

My doodle sheds like a cat.  I sweep the floors daily and as soon as I put the broom or swiffer away as I turn.....BAM, more hair floating across the floor.

I knew going in that the coat type I wanted would shed so I was kinda prepared.  Never had a lab before so I wasn't fully prepared but the Austrailian Shepherd I had years ago did prepare me some.  Stanlee will be a year old this weekend and he's blown his coat now twice.  HOLLA!!!!

My parents vacuum their German Shepard and he loves it! They have a Rainbow vacuum and it came with a let attachment. My Chorkie, Eli, sheds like nobody's business and my Goldendoodle, Sam, is leaving little fur puffs everywhere! Needless to say we brush and vacuum everyday. I have a Shark Navigator and I love it! Just sharing!

I, too, have a Shark Navigator and so far, so good!  Picks up the little pieces of Sedona that find their way in and around everything.  However, I will not complain about her slight shedding, as compared to my daughter's white lab it's NOTHING!!!!

Wow that Shark Navigator has some awesome reviews. It looks like that is purchase that could very well be in my near future. I'm glad you all mentioned it! Looks like a great buy!!

I agree with the awesome reviews, the Shark navigator is fabulous!
