Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We received a Golden Doodle that was a rehome situation as it was purchased as a hypoallergenic dog which it was not for this family a month ago.  She has mouth stains and some stains between her toes and a bit in her privates.  I am trying to get rid of it- none around her eyes.  I changed her to Earth Born kibble -she came on Purina One.  I was using powdered buttermilk that was suggested to me by a friend that breeds westies.  She started to smell like sour milk so we stopped.  So here I am I need some ideas

My thoughts were:

tylosin power (which I have as I had a dog with Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency)

continue the buttermilk 1/2 tsp oer feeding-and deal with the stink

Any other ideas?

Her skin seems to be in good condition.  I did have her professionally groomed as she was very long when we got her.

Thank you

oops just say Jennie's comment above.

Maybe I should try filling the water bowl via the fridge dispenser and see if that helps.  We have city water and it is not hard at all.

Woody, our rescue, came to us with horrible orange beard staining and all four paws were orange.  I knew immediately he was chewing his feet.  He ended up having yeast infections in all four paws, as well as yeast and bacterial infections in both ears.  The vet prescribed a shampoo for soaking his feet.  With a little research and some help from doodle friends, I decided to try a natural solution as well.  I add a tablespoon or so of "Organic Apple Cider Vinegar with the Mother" to his morning meal.  It was easy to add because I also switched him to a raw diet right away.  This helped tremendously!  After about a month, I trimmed away the orange on/in his paws and the fur that grew after that has always been clear.

His beard is also much better, although with saliva, it still stains.

He also has tear stains.  There isn't much I have found to stop this.  He actually has entropia, which there is no great cure.  BUT I did find using "Peace and Kindness" every day, helped a lot with the staining.  I would spray a couple sprays on a cotton pad and wipe his eyes.  I noticed it kept the staining at bay.  And he actually liked having his eyes wiped.

My guess is she is licking her paws and her privates, which is why they are stained.  They may be saliva stains or could be yeast.  And licking can easily lead to yeast infections.  It can be a vicious cycle.

I have never heard of the buttermilk remedy.  But ACV is a great cure-all and I love the P&K.
