I heard doodles are known to get hip dysplasia?
Is that true? How can i prevent her by taking care of her proactively?? Glucosamine & Condroidan (sp?) i will ask the vet on our next well-dog visit.
I didn't research this in the forum section btw but i will :-)

Hip Dyplasia runs in all larger breed dogs, including Standard Poodles, Goldens, and Labs, and it is genetic. Hopefully, you purchased your puppy from a reputable breeder who does genetic hip testing on the breeding dogs, and only breeds dogs with good hip scores. That's not a guarantee against Hip Dysplasia, but it's your best protection against it.

Beyond that, it's important to provide good nutrition, and not let your dog become overweight. Excessive weight gain in puppyhood can exacerbate joint problems, as can being overweight period. Excess calcium in puppyhood is thought to contribute to joint problems as well. Vertical jumping and strenuous exercise that places too much stress on the hips should be avoided while a puppy is still growing.

The jury is still out on how effective glucosamine and/or chondroitin are in preventing or lessening the severity of Hip Dysplasia. It may not help, but I don't think it can hurt, though. Some foods have it included in their formulas.

Interesting ... Well not exactly sure of her past (long story but I found out "stuff" about the "breeder"after we fell in love with Daisy) sooo that I can't control. But she does eat good quality food that even this site recommends :) it's grain free and one type of protein base. She's very trim, actually I've been told she's the thinnest doodle at the groomers. Weighing 50lbs (see pics on profile lol don't know how to attach them to a post yet) thank you for your informative answer btw.
Daisy is a jumper on ppl, couch, our bed ... Maybe I should limit that a lot more ugh :( she's so clingy in an indearing way ;) loves to snuggle like most doodles.
