dog won't eat

I have a friend with a 2 yr old labradoodle who is refusing to eat. She has been to the vet and everything is normal. She even needed IV fluids. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the dog to eat? She has tried many different foods including human food and she won't eat. thanks

If the dog is refusing to eat anything there is something wrong if this has been going on for any length of time. Did the vet x-ray the stomach to look for a blockage? Is the dog pooping, drinking and acting otherwise normal? Did he check the teeth and look in her mouth to look for anything that might be causing discomfort when eating?

I just saw from your same discussion in the Food Group that the dog is drinking.  When did this start and was there any change in the dog's environment that might have been a trigger?

Something is going on for the dog to not be eating.  I have had this same thing happen with my chihuahua 5 years ago and we traced it back to tainted chicken treats that had ingredients from China. 

The saying goes "a healthy dog will eat".  So if a dog is not eating or drinking, something is amiss!  Ask your friend if anything changed in her diet, treats, everything.

hi, my dog started this behavoir about 2 weeks ago, we thought she was just being finicky but when it lasted more than few days and she stopped drinking we took her to vet....she recived iv's , had xrays, labs for pancreatitis, and other infections. Everything came back negative. 

A few days later she began to drink , but continued to refuse food, the vet did xrays for obstruction, and stool samples. Nothing......they put her on antibiotics ....and we thought maybe the antibiotics was ruining her appetite. She has also been getting prevacid.....I am really at a loss.....I was wondering if it could be behavoiral....nothing has changed in our home.....she seems happy , playful....but we are confused ! Thanks for any idea's

As I mentioned in your discussion in The Food Group on this topic, I strongly recommend that your dog see a veterinary internal medicine specialist, especially in light of her weight loss that was mentioned there. 

Kind of confusing having two discussions going at the same time on the same topic.
