How long until Dog can be out of the kenel most of the time when we're home?

We have a 6 1/2 month old Goldendoodle (Jake) and we take him out of the kenel throughout the day to play with him, train him, take him to potty, etc...

If we leave him out he goes all over the place...jumping on stuff, people, etc....being way to rowdy, chewing things, sometimes pottying in the house (although this is getting much better)..

So we have to keep a close eye on him when he is out of the kenel. We'd like to leave him out to hang out in the house during the day like our other (older) dogs....Is there a certain age when he is able to hang out in the house most of the day instead of being in the kenel?

Any advice / feedback is welcome. Thanks!

ROTFL....good one, Carol :) I am sure Rick won't think you have any friends either :)

@Laurie. Ok. All the best to you. :-)

OMD is all I can say!

Looks like I am a crazy dog owner as well....although, she does not sleep with us by her choice, she does and did have full access to her home by the age of 4 months and only crated at night.

I think the difference here is that you are a person with a young family and the rest of us have families all grown. Clearly we all do things differently and we all don't agree. Personally I think giving a pup all the personal attention they need is better than giving attention only when you have time. We worked hard to have the well adjusted, and well trained Daisy. I would love to get another pup but I would not have the same time to do it now that I did then....and Daisy is perfect in our eyes because of all that we did the first year.

Let's face it, all kinds of people have well adjusted adult dogs doing what you do/did, we just took the fun and easy way to do it, when we had time to devote ourselves to just that.

Good Luck with your new doodle, I hope she turns out fabulous.

@carol thanks for being so pleasant. :-)
@Lisa Thanks! I'll give you posted. :-)

EPIC!

@Laurie I just couldn't imagine assuming the worst about people and taking things so serious....

To each his (or her) own... :-)

Rick, If you close your discussion to future replies right after you say something witty, you will absolutely have the last word and isn't that what you are all about??

@Laurie. Why on the world do you keep replying to me? Whats your dog doing while your on the fourm??

Rick, you came here with a question.  If you thought that we were all a bunch of crazy losers uncapable of sustaining real relationships, why did you ever bother posting your question here?

Okay, you are being such a jerk that I am hugely regretting the time and thought I put into giving you a reasonable and what I considered to be a helpful reply.
