Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi Everyone.  Aspen, my goldendoodle, has had a problem with mostly regurgitation since she was about 12 weeks old.  She now is almost 2 years old.  I've switched her diet around several times with no luck.  She is currently on a limited ingredient diet and it hasn't lessen the problem.  My vet wants to try switching her to an rx food that might be easier on her stomach.  She doesn't chew on her paws and has never had and skin problems.  This leads me to believe that it might be a food intolerance problem instead of an allergy problem.  Has anyone out there experienced anything like this with their doodle?  I would appreciate any help I can get.

Thanks

I've done wet food thinking it was consistency.  I'll have to search for a new food.  I don't have pet insurance.

Am I missing something? What does the vet say about the weight?

I took it that weight was not a problem because of this..."Aspen is a healthy happy dog.  She is pretty much normal except for this problem".

Yes. her weight is good.  I've never had a problem with her keeping weight or losing because of her problem.

The vet feels some what comfortable because she has always been able to maintain a healthy weight.

That in itself rules out a couple of the worst possibilities.

Besides food, what kind of snacks? Table food, store-bought training treats (those treats did us in and was the bulk of our problems)

She gets no table scraps just her dog food.  I use her cosequin as her daily treat.  We give her no other treats.

Okay, a simple question. What brand of kibble? What brand of treats?

He said:
She is currently on grain free natures domain salmon and sweet potato. I feed her smaller quantities 3/day.

just thinking here - Feeding a cup of food 3 times a day for an adult dog seems like maybe the stomach is never getting a break from digestion?   Maybe that is why the 'regurgitated' food is still intact.  Have you considered switching her to eating twice a day to see how she does?

Or free feeding. They eat small amounts at a time. A few weeks ago, I changed Spud's diet ( fed him in my bedroom) 2x per day because of house guests ( puppies). Well, he puked ;)
I know, free feeding can't be done by many, but in our situation it worked. You just have to monitor what is taken
