Researching diatomacoeus earth, food grade, has been very eye opening.

It kills fleas and ticks, it is safe, you can sprinkle it on your dog and their bedding and it will not harm them

I always hated putting the Frontline on my dogs and now have ordered and recieved. It also kills other bugs.

I live in Florida and we have lots of critters. I ordered it on Amazon and it was pretty cheap compared to Frontline.

Please research it and you will really be suprised at all it does. I am going to sprinkle it around the kitchen cupboards too, it kills roaches, which can be a problem down south.

Amy, It was to get rid of them.  DH grew up in the country and that's where he learned to do that.  We did graduate to beer and DE.  I didn't like the nightly hunt.

Diatemoceous earth is a wonderful natural product that has many health benefits. Parasite control in both humans and animals is one of them...a lot of people use the food grade and just add it as a supplement to their pets/livestock feed.
Much better alternative to using harsh chemicals such as Frontline or Advantage.

Again, I personally need more than just anecdotes to take a chance with this. So far, I have seen no proof of any kind to justify the claims that it is a "better" alternative to products that I have found to be safe and effective for years. "Better" is a subjective term. It's one thing to say "this is what I use" or "this is what I choose to do" and another thing to make completely unsubstantiated claims about health benefits or judgments about the preventatives that hundreds of thousands of other people choose to use.

I, too, live in Florida and after owning pets for 30 years (be nice you young whipper-snappers) and trying MANY flea products I have found that a monthly chewable product works best for us.  Frontline did nothing for us; the fleas were horrible and all over not only the dogs but the house and family as well.  After having the house and yard treated professionally we switched to oral control and have never had a problem since. We deal with fleas year round, all the time, with no winter break.  I have never in all of my years down here had a tick problem but there are population surrounding this area that do.

Keep it as safe as possible but ultimately, do what works best for you and your family.

As for the roaches, the only thing I would use to get rid of them is a 12 gauge; don't wanna get too close!

Just put the can in the trash.

Thanks Karen and Nicky!  I will try this this weekend!  Kind of excited to see how many I'll catch!

Can't wait lol

Doodle lovers, I found an ant out in the front yard, put in on a bit of DE and it lasted less than a minute.

Enjoying all your posts.

This has been very informative...learned all sorts of things today.  That huge slug took the cake.  I would have to sell my house if I saw something that huge climbing up the door, YUCK!!!  I know, I am quite the drama queen when it comes to bugs and slugs :).
