Hi! My 11 month old doodle has had off and on explosive diarrhea since december. The vet did the parasite test many times and never found anything significant. She has also done blood work and had some test for her pancreas.... we still do not know whats wrong. She has been on metrozidizole 5 times and possibly another antibiotic also. They aslo gave her a de wormer as a precation. As of tonight she is on tylosin but it is the powder form and hard to get her to eat. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks! p.s.- Im losing my mind not knowing whats wrong with her!

Do you think it's ok to give her bits of the LID natural balance duck and potato rolls?
Hello Laura, just wanted to check in and see how things are going for you guys? How has the decrease in Tylosin going? We are still down to one pill a day, and knock on wood...so far so good.
We actually haven't decreased her dose of tylosin yet. She is still on 1/8 teaspoon and it's been abou a 2 weeks now. The vet wanted her to do this dose for about 3 weeks... I want to decrease the dose but I dont know if I should. That's good to hear he's doing well!! Yay that must be a relief. Thanks for asking about Heidi. We are going to see a specialist later this month.

Glad to hear you guys are doing well...I think I would stick with the vet recommendation and wait to decrease.  Good luck with the specialist, please keep us posted!

Update! So Heidi has been on tylosin 1/8 teaspoon 2x a day for about four weeks now. She is doing good and the meds are keeping her regular. I called the vet to ask if I could start to reduce the meds and he said yes. He suggested to try 1x a day for one week and see how she does. If its good then try 1x a day every other day. If we still have problems after this weaning off then we will be seeing the internal specialist near the beggining  of May.

This is good news indeed!

I'm glad to hear your news.

Excellent! Thank you for the update..glad to hear the good news.. We will keep our fingers crossed that the weaning will work!

UPDATE- Today is the last tylosin dose for Heidi as I have slowly tried to wean her off. This past week she only got 1/8 teaspoon 1 time a day every other day... and she did just fine :) Please cross all fingers and paws that she can make it through the week without issues and for the rest of her life. Thanks again from Heidi and I for all the help and ill be sure to let everyone know how this week goes.

We'll be keeping paws & fingers crossed that she continues to do well. Please do keep us posted.

Good luck, wishing Heidi the best.
Fingers crossed!
