We went for a bike ride/dog walk at one of our usual areas today. My husband's friend did not want to ride because he saw the rain on his computer headed this way. I said I would go with Charlie and walk the dogs and I put on a rain poncho and off we went. Well, things were looking good when a road runner crossed the road in front of me, and a covey of quail were running across the road, but when we got out to the walk area, there were cows in the fields so I kept the dogs on leash. When my husband caught up with us, he took the dogs running up the hill following his bike and I started walking back. When they came back down, the dogs ran through the fence and through the water barrier and after the cows. They were covered (and I mean covered) in waste water and cow poo. I brought them home and sprayed them off with a hose, but they needed complete baths and blow dries. Took us over an hour to get them all cleaned up again to make them "house worthy". But, it didn't rain!

How fun! I bet the dogs had a BLAST!
Ha ha...I have had a similar experience here with Gracie Doodle but it is usually in the stagnant bay water!!!
Rain might have been a good idea. :-}
LOL
Will it rain, won't it rain this is the question here practically every day...Some days we are all ok and arrive home relatively clean and dry, others and it's straight into the shower and a couple of hours of 'grooming'. Sounds like the dogs had great fun at least : ) I have to keep well away from farms here as farmers wouldn't take kindly to running cows (or worse sheep!)
I don't take kindly to running the cows either. And right now we have sheep on the hillsides at the new national monument at Ft. Ord. So, I usually at least carry leashes when we are around either cows or sheep. Just didn't catch them in time. There is also barbed wire but they just crawled under that and were off. I'm going to stay away from there for a while. Maybe we are "stuck" with going to the beach, but that usually means full baths also - at least for Harpo. It's tough when you share your house with dogs.
Cow poo, what a great sensory experience for them!! We use to manage a horse farm...thankfully my dog at that time was a Dane...much easier to maintain.
Oh wow. Very funny to hear from this side.
I dont think I would have been laughing from your side.
The rain may have worked for a pre rinse- LOL
