I just ran across this story on Yahoo: http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/ferret-poodle-argentina-125901... about a man who thought he was buying poodle puppies but actually purchased 2 ferrets steroids. He didn't realize it until the vet told him. This story made me smile so I thought I would share.

All the ferrets I have met have been very hyperactive and wild--I can't imagine what a ferret on steroids would be like!
A little like Andy Dick on steroids :)
Seriously, who in the world would even think to give steroids to a ferret????
For that matter, I wonder how much the steroid regimen cost. Not much profit margin @ 150 per poodle.
And not just give steroids to the ferret, but somehow think that the steroids would make the ferret look like a poodle?
Seriously, can you imagine this diabolical criminal mastermind, sitting in his basement somewhere teasing the ferret's hair??? I don't think that ferret even has ears...
Hmmmmmmmmm............ Sometimes i think that you can cross a goat with a ferret to make an oliver...
I just saw this also. How dumb can one be to mistake a ferret for a poodle. I have a bridge that I would like to sell......
Hilarious. If anyone is a photoshop expert maybe they can give us an idea what that would look like...
I could not believe what I was watching last night! REALLY???
The jury is still out as to whether that $50 puppy is a "healthy" beauty. Most health issues don't show up until a dog is at least 2 or 3 years old, and many don't show up until middle-age. A dog being "healthy" at a year old is nice, but it really means nothing.
I think you're paying for odds. There's never a guaranty of health, non-shedding coat or anything else - but by choosing the right breeder and spending some money you can hopefully at least maximize your chances of getting what you want. Or you can rescue an adult dog and have a better idea of what you are getting without spending a lot. More importantly, I wouldn't want to buy a dog from the people outside of Home Depot because then I would feel complicit in their bad acts.
In Chicago at least, you can get really great hot dogs outside of home depot, though. Now that kind of dog I will buy. :)
