Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi everyone,  I wanted to update everyone who replied to my  previous discussion on Aspen and her situation. After reading all the post on possible solutions and possible causes for Aspen throwing up all the time I decided to research another food using the dog food resources on this site and some other internet sites.  I chose Wellness Simple for a couple of reasons.  First it was formulated for dogs with food sensitivities.  She never had any symptoms of food allergies other than throwing up  so I was comfortable that she wasn't allergic to the ingredients of any of the foods she was previously on.  I did suspect that she might be intolerant to something in the previous foods.  Second, the food is highly digestible. Last, it was formulated for dogs with sensitive stomachs.  I had never considered this as a possible cause but now I'm thinking that it could be a possible culprit.  I am currently transitioning her to the Wellness Simple.  She is abou10 days into the transition.  She has 4 more days before she is completely on Wellness Simple.  I am happy to report that since I've started the transition she has only thrown up 4 times.  Before this transition,  there were days were she would throw 4 times in a day.  What I have notice from her throw-up is that the Wellness food is absent and the old food is what shows up.  She doesn't like the Wellness food like her old food so I mix a little yogurt(with live culture to aid with digestion) and a tablespoon of the Wellness Simple canned food.  I know it is still early in this process but so far I am really happy with the results.  I will make a future update on her progress once she has been on the Wellness Simple for a while.  I'm hoping that this will help someone out there going through this same problem.

I hope Wellness works for Aspen. Just remember it is less important that the dog 'likes' the food and more important that you feed her what you think is proper for her.  It makes us feel good when the dog loves and gobbles up his/her food, but she will get used to what you feed her.

Agreed.  She has started to eat everything I give her.  I guess she is over her finicky stage.  I'm hoping that I've found the food that helps her.  It is still frustrating not knowing what really causes her condition.
