Love it!
My 4 year old, Bentley, hates wet grass... he walks on the brick border of the flower bed to get to the other side of the yard to walk on as little grass as possible. :/ But my 6 month old, Oliver, could care less! Maybe you could try putting some stepping stones leading out into the yard for her to walk on?
OMG, this is Sophie. Although to her defense, it has done nothing but rain in Illinois since we got her 2 weeks ago! It has rained so hard and when I take her out, she cries and pulls backwards and then stands up and hugs my leg as if she is saying 'mommy, please pick me up'. I feel so bad. I usually can pick her up and move her to another section of the lawn and she will go after putting up a fuss, but last week she refused to stay outside. I brought her inside and within 2 seconds, she ran into the family room and pooed on the rug!!!!!!
Two days ago we had a hail storm - that poor little puppy. I waited until it was over, but I think all of the hail on the ground scared her and was cold on her feet. Again, she cried.
I'm sorry it's happening to you as well, but I am also relieved to know it's not just Sophie! :)
Hang in there!!!!!!
Argh! Been there and it's a funny/not funny thing. We are near Seattle - wet, wet, wet.... have had dogs refuse, but refusal get them crate time around here. We went through a brief phase early on, rain settles in here around Nov and leave in July, but this girl only grumbles about what is falling instead of wet ground. Standing like a rock in pouring rain, won't budge, sad look - took a bit to get the point across.
When you clean up the pee on your porch, find a way to get it to the grass; take a scoop, rag, mop or turkey baster and get the smell to the grass - immediately. Every time. Never had a dog that didn't try to speed up the process and save the poo for last, but it gets so tiring standing in the cold, wet.
Get an x-pen for potty breaks, no release until done.
