Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Goldie is a mini and she weighs about 15 pounds at 5 months. At 15 weeks I think she weighed about 11 or so pounds. You may have a mini but you may not. But how could you not know what you have, may I ask? Did you get him from a breeder? The breeder should know what he is or was he a rescue or rehome?
Oh just re-read and saw you got him from a breeder. The size range that they gave you does not seem to be the weight ranges for minis. I think you may have a standard whom hasn't hit his growth spurt yet.
Ned was about the same weight as Luke at about the same age. Ned maxed out by 8 months. He weighs 27 or 28 pounds and is 5 years old. Ned isn't a goldendoodle but a labradoodle so it may not be as helpful to you. For labradoodles height is the defining factor for mini, medium and standard. Ned is 1" over mini height. Both of his parents are minis.
This is the fun part - the gamble on what is in that box of chocolates. At fourteen lbs now, - - could be medium, but it's hard to say. Smaller ones are harder to guess on growth rates - my yorkie was seven lbs at five months and never passed nine lb.... Our shepherd grew like an explosion as predicted, but nobody expected him to hit 112.
but our doodle girl wants to be a medium and all her litter-mates are more like standards - well over fifty lbs - (one has cleared seventy) one vet predicted she would clear that as well, but not - - all guesstimates are really loose on mixed breeds. Our girl did a lot of growing in those weeks between 12 and 20 weeks, but the spurts are individual. At ten weeks our pup was twelve lbs, by twelve weeks she was eighteen lbs and at sixteen weeks she hit 24lbs. Now at eighth months she is almost forty lbs.
