okay-so I've looked around on here and in the internet and I just can't find what I'm looking for...

We just bought a teryx-4. I'm sure it seems strange, but I want to be able to bring Racey on it with us. There will be times that we will be gone for hours at a time and I don't want her locked in her kennel in the motor home when she could be out with us.

I think I'll need to get her goggles to protect her eyes from any tree branches and I know where I can get those. Has anyone used them with success?

There are several considerations...

This is an open air ATV, so with a regular seat belt she could jump out and be caught dangling over the side, obviously not a good option.

I'd like her to be able to move around some what because she likes to see where we are going.

I'd like it to be easy to get her in and out of because if we get in a tight spot with Moose or Bears I need to be able to get her into the ATV quickly.

And yes-I realize this is a first world problem.

I've attached a picture of the ATV so you can see what it looks like and what I'm working with. Racey will be in the back seat.

If anyone has an ATV that they take their doodle on please give me any advice you have. If you don't have an ATV, but still have some good ideas, I'm open to everything!

And bc I'm weird-here's a fishing pic too

Oh, so much fun. I have no ideas, just wanted to say that Racey will have a blast.

Thanks! For the time being she is actually scared of it-I think she thinks its growling at her. Plus she is scared of everything. lol.

Last summer she got scared of the oar on the boat and jumped into the Kenai River-not recommended. Luckily it was in a relatively calm area and she had a life jacket on with a strap so we just grabbed her right back into the boat.

We have an open jeep and used one of the harness type belts that attach to the seat belt. For freeway riding, the wind bothered Clancy so he mostly laid across the seat.  Goggles would have been a great idea.

I bought a SOLVIT harness from Amazon. I like it because you can adjust the harness that attaches to the seatbelt to be pretty short so the dog can't jump out. They have plenty of room to sit or lay down.It wasn't too expensive either. Guess you could try it and send it back if it doesn't do what you want.

We had a poodle that used to ride behind us on a motorcycle.  He had a box with a tannau (sp?) cover and wore goggles.  A child's ski goggles worked well.  I think that I would rig up something with a harness and a runner across the seat at shoulder level that would move back and forth in the harness.  Just my suggestion.

Thanks Lynda. I think your suggestion is what we are going to do. We bought a nice harness on Friday at Alaska Mill and Feed. DH thinks he's figured out a way to attach the harness to a runner. When we get it put together, I'll take a photo.
