Theo had his neutering done today and poor Baby Bear isn't handling it well at all! My pet sitter is also the vet tech so she was the one that handled all the surgery stuff and the anesthesia. She said he did really well in surgery and she kept the anesthesia very light so when they were done and taking the tubes out he was already waking up. I went to visit him at lunch to find his face bright silver. They spray him underneath to see if he is licking-he was :(. so I came back at 2:30 to pick him up and she said he was good to go and seemed to have quit the licking.
When we got home though he became obsessed with it to the point where it began bleeding! So off we went back to the vet to get more glue put on to hold the incision together and a Cone of Shame :(
Well-the only cone they had would have fit a St. Bernard, so they found this BiteNot collar that he came back home with. He just isn't a happy boy :(
I gave him a tiny bit of Benadryl-they said it was okay, to help him relax and rest and it seems to have taken effect, or he is just exhausted.
Nothing is ever easy...

Poor baby, I hope he feels better soon. A pair of loose underwear will work to stop him from licking and still let air to the incision. I don't suppose you have a pair of boxers laying around do you? ">)
Um, if that happens there MUST be pictures LOL
Oh, he does look very sad and exhausted! Hang in there Theo, you will be up and around in no time! I don't think I would like that collar either! Libby sends paw hugs and Doodle kisses:)
Poor baby. I put an old t-shirt on Boris and tied a big knot on top where it was too loose and that did the trick. I did however, keep the cone on for two full days before I used the shirt.
Oh, poor baby bear...feel better soon buddy! Sleep tight....
Poor little guy; he looks just pitiful. He will be back to normal in a few days. Anesthesia makes a guy feel punk.
Theo, you are such a cutie. Heal quickly.
Poor Theo, I hope he feels better soon!
The shelter sent JD home with the BiteNot collar, as he had been neutered 4 days before. I liked it much better than the "Cone of Shame".
I had not seen this type before. Does look better than the cone of shame. I'll have to keep this in mind.
Plus, it doesn't stick out around his head and bang into walls or obstruct his vision, lol.
Panties or a shirt. Good luck.
