Theo had his neutering done today and poor Baby Bear isn't handling it well at all! My pet sitter is also the vet tech so she was the one that handled all the surgery stuff and the anesthesia. She said he did really well in surgery and she kept the anesthesia very light so when they were done and taking the tubes out he was already waking up. I went to visit him at lunch to find his face bright silver. They spray him underneath to see if he is licking-he was :(. so I came back at 2:30 to pick him up and she said he was good to go and seemed to have quit the licking.
When we got home though he became obsessed with it to the point where it began bleeding! So off we went back to the vet to get more glue put on to hold the incision together and a Cone of Shame :(
Well-the only cone they had would have fit a St. Bernard, so they found this BiteNot collar that he came back home with. He just isn't a happy boy :(
I gave him a tiny bit of Benadryl-they said it was okay, to help him relax and rest and it seems to have taken effect, or he is just exhausted.
Nothing is ever easy...

Feel better soon Theo. We hope you'll be back to your happy funny self soon. xo
Oh no!
Although on the bright side, he did pee. :)
Oh no! What's going on, Theo?
Hmmmm if the incision looks fine and there's no indication that he's running a fever, then could it be that our Theo is a bit of a "drama king"? Seriously, Murph is a really big baby with everything....he cries when he gets a shot and you should see him when they have to draw blood...you'd think he was being tortured. I'd call the Vet in the morning just to be safe, but I wonder if he's a "sensitive guy" and this just took a lot out of him....poor Theo.
I was given four days of pain killers for Boris, not sure what they were. Perhaps Theo needs better pain meds? Sure sounds like he is hurting or at the least uncomfortable. I don't know about the aspirin doses for puppies. Hopefully someone here knows and you can use them for today and call your vet in the morning.
Aspirin is a blood thinner :( I don't think, post surgery, aspirin is a good drug of choice at all.
I would call a vet! Not give an aspirin
I'll bet a bag of Dog Poop, your vet did not have you give an aspirin Post Surgical!
Aspirin promotes bleeding as it is a blood thinner. Great for muscle aches maybe, or a stroke, but not good with open incisions
I gave the pain meds to Boris for only two days because he seemed fine. I have the rest here they are called Canidryl 50mg active ingredient Carprofen. Dose 1 twice daily. Perhaps you can get some?
poor fellow :( give him a big hug from me.
ditto from me too. Hugs
I would hold off and just give him lots of loving tonight....then tomorrow you can talk to the vet. If he's running from place to place he can't be in too much pain. I think if it was hurting him he would cry out when he ran. I really think he's just thrown off by the whole experience. I'm sure he's going to be fine. Try not to worry...just cuddle.
