Just took Meg out to her pen and she actually stalked (I will recognize this action next time) and then pounced on a baby robin that couldn't muster up the energy or ability to fly away.  Thankfully she has a soft mouth and was just holding the bird to the ground with her mouth trying to figure out how to pick it up.  Meg is a big girl and it took all I had to pull her away.  We have a second, smaller, pen for her that we only use when the big one is muddy so I was able to wrestle over to it to do her business.  Taking her back in past the big pen was interesting, she could here the bird in there and she REALLY wanted to go back in there!  Poor little robin probably had a heart attack!!!!!!!!!

I suspect the first time she sees a rabbit I best let go and save a shoulder...;-}

My husband was out with Luna for some off-leash fetch and she caught a baby bird (not sure what type).  He told Luna to "drop it" and she did!  The bird was a fledgeling so it scampered away pretty fast!

Luna has a HUGE prey drive and has (on more than one occasion) chased robins on the wing...As much as I don't want her to catch the bird it's pretty amazing to see her run that fast - she keeps up with the robin!

Luna is an amazing athlete!  And very impressive responding to the "drop it" in spite of her prey drive. Good girl!

That poor little robin has been all over the place in the last 24 hours...on our door sill, and don't think that didn't drive Meg around the bend...out in the drive way, in my Hosta bed and now out under my willow tree.  Hope it gets the wings figured out soon, the parents are pretty defensive about it.
