I use an Easy Walk harness with Chance, and I love it except for the fact that the harness is not as sturdy as I had hoped it would be. The instructions warn customers to check the harness for rips, etc. frequently, and please heed that warning if you use this harness.  Here is a photo of Chance's harness, almost ready to break when I checked it today.

This is the third Easy Walk harness that has developed a rip in less than a year (and I don't keep the harness where Chance can bite or chew on it).

Wow, I'm surprised! Jackdoodle has had the same harness for seven years, and it's still in perfect condition.

However, JD's Easy Walk harness is made by Premier. I notice that the one in the photo has a tag that says "PetSafe", and on the JD's the tag in that same exact spot says PREMIER, with a little logo of a dog. Maybe there are two different brands of "Easy Walk" harnesses?

I did a bit of research on this.  In 2010 Radio Systems Corp acquired Premier Pet Products.  Radio Systems owns PetSafe among other brands, and last year they began moving Premier Pet products to the PetSafe brand.  They claim the products are the same.  I wonder if this is true.

It seems pretty clear to me that like so many other things, the quality has gone down since the buyout. JD's harness was purchased in 2006 and was used at least twice daily for almost 7 years. I never washed it, and it got pulled and tugged a lot.

It's so sad that every time there is a good, well-made product that is successful, some other company takes over and figures out a way to make it cheaper so they can make an even bigger profit.

It is very disheartening.

The problem with this product is that the weakness in the harness is not visible until it actually begins to go bad, and that happens quickly.  Yesterday, Chance's harness was fine.  Today, after a few walks, it had almost ripped apart.  Had I taken another walk without checking the harness, my dog surely would have broken loose.

We got ours in 2011 from Pet Smart it says premier on it.......I will check when I go back on Thursday..if they have them do you want me to get you one and if so what size?

We have a Gentle Walker (I think that is what it is called) and we have to replace it for the same reason.  We have had it for about a year.

I'm surprised too! Camus' has worn the same Easy Walk harness since August of 2010 and it was a hand-me-down from Nietzsch. I use it both in the car and to walk him and it is still in good shape. Like JD's harness it is a Premier.

This is terrible news.  A wonderful and reliable product has changed.   I could never imagine this happening without a dog chewing on the material.  So sad because this really was a GREAT PRODUCT.

DJ, call this company.  They used to offer a lifetime warranty and replaced the product.  Do they still do this?  They need to know the changes made are not working.  Some companies actually do listen to the consumer.

Will do.  I have photos for the last two that show the problem--all at the front of the harness.

We use the Wonder Walker Harness and I love it. I have had no problems with wear and tear and it is so easy to get on and off. I couldn't figure out how to link to it in the comments but if you google Wonde Walker dog harness you should find the website easily.

It certainly is NOT "pet safe"!  Glad you caught it before it broke.
