Here is what is going on after taking her to the vet. Not the simple playing to rough that I thought it was.

Im not sure where to really start. We noticed Sophie was bleeding from her gums after playing over the holiday weekend with kids an another dog. we irrigated and made sure nothing was stuck in there. Today we went to the vet to see if we missed anything. She found the purple marks all over her body and said she thinks her blood isn't clotting right and she is running a bit of a temp. We were transferred to the 24 hr emergency vet because they can do blood tests on site and she was worried about maybe rat or mouse poisoning. thank god they ruled that out right away with tests. the picture is all the tests they have done so far. Here is a list of things they found wrong and what they are doing to treat until more tests come back.

Bleeding from gums

red/purple spots over body

mild anemia

very few platelets

Sophie 10,000 platelets

normal 200,000 platelets

Treatment

steroids immunosuppressive does

doxycycline for possible tick bite infection

If anyone has any info that may help me out here on what is going on it would be very very appreciated or if you think I should post this in a specific or other areas to get the most responses let me know. Still kind of in shock that this is all happening.

Definitely super scary and I wish I had some sort of advice or ideas.  Hopefully the vets can figure it out and Sophie will be home soon with you.  :(  Sending happy get well soon prayers, thoughts and best wishes.  Good luck.

Whoa! So sorry it is so serious! Hugs and prayers for you all! Please keep us posted on her progress!

Hope it's nothing serious and that Sophie makes a speedy recovery.

Praying for Sophie and hoping that she has quick a full recovery.  She is such a doll!  I know you must be incredibly worried.  Will be keeping up with all of this, Bob.  Keep us informed.

yes it does seem to be adding up very fast money wise but she has insurance. with what we went through with our other 2 dogs over the past 2 years I just had to get insurance for her and I am very glad I did.

So glad you have pet insurance! It is nice to know that $$$ won't be an issue with any decisions you will have make concerning her care! Hang in there!
Thank goodness for pet insurance ! I don't have any knowledge of this condition but I do suggest that you post to the main forum to get more exposure. There is also a medical group.
Good luck and hugs to you and Sophie.

We will be thinking of you guys and sending lots of healing thoughts!  Hang in there Sophie...you can beat this!

{{Doodle Hugs}} coming your way!

Oh no! :( Sending Sophie positive thoughts and a prayer this it under control and the vet finds the cause. Poor Sophie.
