My wonderful 5 1/2 month old doodle, Charlie, doesn't bark. He occasionally makes a funny noise but it's not a proper bark! Is he very quiet or is he just too young?!

ps what on earth are zoomers?!

Wanna trade dogs? I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for my three to shush more often! Be thankful...he might start barking as he matures and starts to get more territorial. But be grateful for the quiet while you have it =)

Zoomies are a sudden burst of energy when your dog runs as if he is in a race all around your house or yard. It starts suddenly and is hilarious to watch! My dogs usually only do it for a minute or two.
Oh, your three doggies are just lovely! I haven't posted a pic yet of Charlie

Charlie is the most laid back dog ever! We had friends round on Saturday night for dinner and he spent 3 hours lying sleeping on his back as if he'd swallowed valium or something! We did choose the most laid back dog in the litter and we are quite chilled ourselves - but he is sometimes very non puppy like!

I don't think he zooms but he does have crazy moments when he drags everything out his crate and waggles it all madly in the air. That is about crazy as it gets but we love him so so much
Thank you! I would love to see a picture of Charlie he sounds like a fabulous puppy. I am quite mellow myself so I like those laid-back doggies :-)
Blake did not bark AT ALL until he was over a year old.....I actually worried that he was deaf!...but then I learned through research that it is a Doodle trait....Many are not big barkers...THANK GOODNESS!...lol
that's all interesting - didn't know doodles were quiet! Charlie is F1, not Australian, so I wonder if that makes a difference as I always thought labs were very loud dogs!

Does anyone elses labradoodle make the CUTEST noise when he first gets up from a sleep, which is a kind of squawk (can't think how else to describe it!) that is about the most noise Charlie makes. I try to imitate him when he does it but he looks at me like I'm crazy
I think some doodles don't bark-- but I wouldn't say it's a true trait because there is so much variation in doodles and their background. Both of my doodles are very loud! :-)

Although Rosco, as loud as he is when he barks full force, in the morning or the middle of the night if he needs to go outside he makes these frustrated "I-am- trying- my- best- not- to- wake- you- up- but- I- must- go" sounds that are totally adorable. He harrumphs and yawns and other such things that are cute.

When Thule wants something she sometimes growls-- but not a vicious or angry or teeth baring growl. It's just her way of making requests.
Blake does that little growl thing too!.....If I'm on the computer too long and he is feeling like he wants some attention he sits next to me, puts his paw on my leg and does that little low play growl noise!...LOL.....If that doesn't get my attention he barks once and wags his tail......He can be a pushy little twirp!....
we call that 'good morning, i am awake, where's my message' kind-of sqeaky-puppy yawn. We all just coo at her every morning (and she knows it).
I get groans in the morning.....like "don't make me move til I'm ready"....then I have to say something like "Do you wanna go for a pooperwalk?" and then I have immediate attention....
Samantha is not a morning Doodle - she waits until 1030a most mornings for her pooty break! It is amamzing that she can hold it that long but she does. Which makes going to work on time an issue since I am supposed to be there by 8a.
My doodle doesn't bark - although he has been known to sing along to the occassional fire-engine, if the pitch is right! But after he's had a shower he does this happy little dance thing in the house - a mutant zoomie I guess...he runs around in little circles that get tighter and tighter, 'til he's almost spinning! He's often very low to the ground when he does this, and he makes a growly sound. My pup is super laid back too - we have to prod him awake in the mornings. When we are out he does zoomies but only if push comes to shove. People were always surprised to learn he was a puppy; he's 1and a half now. Charlie sounds similar in nature; we lucked out! :)
My two barks to let me know someone is here, if they are startled, and if they see a rabbit, etc. I am so glad they are not big barkers.
