Haley has never been good riding in the car. He loves to go but he likes to lunge at oncoming cars on two lane roads. I think the configuration of our family car is part of the problem. He has no place to be comfortable except standing with front feet on the hump and head almost in the front seat forced to stare ahead.
I have always thought a SUV would be more comfortable but we are not ready to purchase a new family vehicle. Last month on side of the highway DH and I spotted a bright red Jeep Cherokee for sale. We were curious and stopped looked it over and wrote down the telephone number. I kept thinking about that vehicle and finally on our way home I asked DH to call the number. He found out the year (1996) price (not much) and mileage. We met the owner to test drive the Jeep and bought it.
In the month we have had Haley's car Haley has become a pretty good passenger. I had never been able to train the lunging at cars out of him but now he only does it when we first start out for which he gets a verbal correction. Haley now gets to go places.
This is a win-win for all of us!

Love it! Haley's first pic in the car would make a great advertisement. I know I would buy the car...and the dog :)
Hey, Haley has a car! You might think of erecting some type of barrier between the seats and his area so that he could never become a missle in case of an accident. Our dogs also have a car that was purchased just for them. There is room for three big doodles in the back. We put in a truck bed liner which is very easy to clean after our frequent trips to the beach. They also have a memory foam pad for longer trips. It has been a wonderful vehicle for all of us. The bikes on the top and the dogs in the back and we are ready to head out anywhere.
Sounds like you have a great setup Lynda. Haley wears his seat belt harness attached to the cargo tie down.
Sounds terrific. Enjoy the ride, all of you. Great photos.
