I am bit concerned that my 13 week old  Theo is sleeping all day.He eats in the morning happy to be out of crate after food and water when we get busy with work int he day time he sleeps , no playing unless I go and entice him  with toy. Even with that he play for few min than go back to lying down and then to sleep.

Late evening he get bit energetic and start to play when we are done with work since I am working from home for him so that he is not alone. Is this normal?

I have 2 doodles. Rico is going to be 5 months and Sophie is 16 months. I take them out at 6am and they go back to bed until they hear me set up their food @ 8:30. After that they play very lightly & nap till lunch. Again will play very little after that and nap until 4. Now at 7:30pm they have been playing since 5:30 ripping and running like crazy dogs! They will calm down around 8 and sleep till the morning. So I would say as long as he's eating and healthy it's nice to have lazy pups!!
I'm so jealous!!! We are up at 6:30 every morning, no exceptions. I just last weekend started working on "sleeping in" on the weekends....we get up and I let him go outside and then we go back to bed for a little but...me more than him but he's getting the idea. ;0)

My two girls are pushing 2 yrs (Josie next week, Sassy in Sept).  I'm not home during the day but my mom is and she always comments that all they do is sleep until I get home then it's total chaos!  They run through the house rough playing for a good hour or more, then my true doodle has me playing catch until bed time (usually 11pm).  For a puppy that young I would think that would be normal? Hope this helps!

Thanks Pilar & Jolene. this make me feel better. Theo have issue with regurgitating water so i was worried if this is due to that or normal behavior

We have a 4.5-month old who sounds similar, except she won't even eat until the afternoon either. I gave up trying to get her to eat a meal in the morning a while ago. She sleeps through the night, gets up briefly while we are getting ready for school/work and takes a short walk when we drop the kids off at school, and then naps until about 1 pm (I mostly work from home, so I am here to witness it!). She'll go outside to pee at some point, but no real activity until about 3 pm when she really comes to life, zooms around, wants to play fetch, and gets a bit nippy. I typically feed her a meal around then and again at around 9 pm, when she starts to settle down.

Fozzie was a very quiet puppy also. Each visit to the vet for the first couple years I would always ask about his so mellow behavior. My vet always checked heart and lungs and did do a check for diabetes which was negative. I always watched his weight which was good and his energy level during training classes (a couple a week), which was also good. Fozzie is 4 now and doing great. He is just not a hyper active dog - thank goodness :-)
Every dog is different so make sure you check with your vet.
Just wondering if they displayed this same behavior when they were very little. Like did they ever play or were they always "no playing" type of dogs?
Fozzie would play ball for a short time then not bring the ball back, he would tug any chew on toys. He would get a bit excited about squeaky toys but then preferred to rip out the squeaked. This was his behaviour right from 8 weeks old. His mellowness helped him to be the great therapy dog he is now.

My Theo is almost like that . All he likes is chewing on grass and tug of war , if try to play fetch he will grab the ball come near us and then runaway some time don't even bring it back. IF we are not playing with him he sleeps :)

I would agree that you might just have a really mellow puppy (lucky you!!!) but would talk to your vet about it. What I would give these days for just ONE mellow day, ha! We get up two hours before I have to get dressed for work and play non stop, we play non stop for a full hour at lunch and then for probably a solid three hours in the evening...it's such an awesome moment when he finally lays down and closes those eyes at night! Lol!

Some times i do feel he was bit more playful it will fun to watch . This guys is making me work to get him to play !!!

I guess hearing all the comments in long run it might be good that he is not too playful :)

My labradoodle was soooo sleepy the first few weeks we got her!  She would snuggle up with anyone and just sleep on their lap for ages.  It was actually quite adorable.  Now at 5 months she is quite the psycho with so much energy it's hard to keep up!  I quite miss the puppy sleepy/snuggly stage, so enjoy it while you have it :)
