Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Anybody have litter mates? We have 2 (now 18wk) labradoodle pups and looking for tips and advise on house training 2! We got them at 14wks. They crate well...no accidents...and are somewhat trained to ring a bell to go outside. If they are in a room with a hard surface floor they are pretty good with the bell ringing. If in a room with carpet they do not ever indicate they have to go. That is our family room where we would like to spend more of our time playing with them. We heavily watch them for any signs that they need to "go". The pups are totally oblivious to potty training in that room. Any tips or suggestions on training 2 at the same time is much appreciated! Share your stories and experiences of training 2 bundles of joy simultaneously!

The general consensus is to keep a SINGLE puppy on a short leash either attached to you at all times or to not let it get somewhere out of reach. However, with 2 puppies...this might be difficult (they might get tangled, etc.). Is there any way to blockade the areas with carpet to keep them out when you're not with them? I think you really just need to not let them get into areas where they can get into "trouble" when you don't have an eye on them...
At this age we do not leave them unattended yet. We only keep them in areas (when not in crate) that are "safe". We have however tried to play with them upon occasion in our family room (to provide more room to run around). We are there and watch them closely. We catch them before they have an accident but the attempt to try happens frequently. We take them outside separately on leashes etc. If anyone has gone through training two together and have tips that may have that worked, we are always looking for other options :)
This doesn't answer your multiple dogs issue, but with my youngest Rosco I found that he never gave any signs of having to go pee. He would just stop in the middle of playing and go. So I simply just had to take him out frequently--every 15-20 minutes at first.
