Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

My boy, Finn, is 5.5 months and has a wavy coat. Is there anyone out there with a wavy coated Goldendoodle who can tell me what to expect when the adult fur comes in? Right now it's not a problem at all. Some shedding but no mats. I'm just wondering if the adult coat will be different from the puppy coat.

So cute. He looks so fluffy. I've attached a pic of Finn's back stripe. Thanks for the input.

Tee hee I want to pet those waves! So glad I don't have the only doodle with them - I love them!  And yes, his head and legs are super fluffy so I'm not sure what he's going to look like with his adult coat - a golden back and doodle head and legs?  His legs are much more difficult to brush than his back for sure.
Oh and yes, his ears, the middle of his back, and the backs of his hind legs are darker than the rest of his coat.

I believe you are right, here is a pic of when lucas was about 5-6 mos.

Yes, they are all beautiful babies! Everywhere I go, I get comments on Luke. He is really a nice looking dog, if I do say so myself....hehe.......I call him "shaggy". I can not bring myself to cut him short like the groomer wanted, he gets trimmed but not cut (yet). Here is a pic I just took of him this morning.

My Moose this morning.

Oh my.....I just want to hug him :)
He looks so silky!!

So sweet! And he looks sooooo soft :-)

I was looking for a discussion on wavy coats and I think you have all answered my questions here! Lexi is a standard doodle and her face and coat look fairly similar to Monty! I find Lexi is starting to get a thicker coat on her back near her end. I have been brushing her every 3 days minimum as I have already started to see tiny mats. Her coat is still wavy, but seems to be thickening a bit.

Jessica...how old is Lexi?  Sounds like her coat is still changing.  Monty is just about to turn 1 and is still doing some "thickening" of his coat...especially on his rear end.  In fact....unless he is wet....he looks pretty wide back there!  Different story when he is wet.  That is when you realize that he is mostly hair.  This is also where he has more waves than the rest of his body.  We still have not seen any matting, however.  His coat is very silky and easy to brush.

She is only 5 months old... So definitely changing! Lexi is the same when she is wet. She is a tall dog, but everyone thinks she's bigger because of her coat. She was pretty skinny about a month ago but is "bulking up" a bit.
