Me either that is why I asked.
Rep states, " 100% meat" and expensive ( of course)
So, we will just wait and see.
I'd love to be a rep

Jay of Jay & Lola had a discussion here a little while back about this new Orijen freeze-dried food. "Expensive" was the main focus of the conversation, lol. I'm pretty sure this is the same one the rep was talking about.

The reps almost always work for a distributor, and not for the company that manufactures the food. That's the way the retail industry works now. Almost nothing is purchased directly from the company that makes it by the store that sells it.

Reps :(
That's too bad. With my hours cut recently its hard to find a job being out and about.

As for the food, maybe it is ' New ' for the store to stock, not a new product then? I'll check next month and answer this when I have an update.
Thank you
Is there a way to get samples of these products? I'm just thinking if I buy a $60+ bag of dog food and my dog hates it, that would be a major bummer. :)

Most of the brands make small bags, 4 to 5 lbs. so no reason to spend $60. You can also email the manufacturers and ask for smaples.

You might check with your store.  I'm doing a food trial right now with Lucy and have just started trying her with some new limited ingredient foods after narrowing down some things she cannot have.  I was told by the store manager that any bags that I purchase that do not work for her for any reason I just bring them back and will get store credit for a different bag.  I've already taken back one bag of treats that did not work and exchanged them.

I just wish there was a food out there that Whidbey would eat that I didn't have to doctor up!  I have tried numerous ones-  Blue Buffalo, Nutra Source, Avoderm, that I can name off the top of my head and I still have to add extras to it to get her to eat!

WHY don't they make healthy dog food that when water is added it makes a tasty gravy?  You cannot tell me that with all the ingredients and options there are, that they cannot find a way to make it healthy for them to have it!

Have you tried Fromm's Four-Star line? There are a dozen formulas that are designed to be rotated, so the dog doesn't get "bored".

What happens if you just give her the food with no toppings? Have you tried putting down the bowl, giving her 15-20 minutes, and then taking it away until the next mealtime? That usually works in a day or so, as the dog gets really hungry and learns that if she doesn't eat when she has the opportunity, she will have to wait until the next meal.

What kind of extras are you adding? Is she also getting treats?

I feed her the same time as the cats.  Not much way around it, as I have a small home and a limited time to feed due to a busy schedule and them going after one-another's food.  Cats on one side of the kitchen island, the dog on the other.  Cats get one can of wet food shared between them, but I take one tsp of the cat food (which she goes ape crazy over) and add hot water to the can with the small tsp left over and make a gravy with it.  I then stir it into her food.  She LOVES it.

Yes, she gets treats but not at mealtime.

Well, I guess I was typing my suggestion as you were posting that you already do it! LOL I can understand why a dog would not want to eat dog kibble when there is  canned cat food being offered on the other side of the kitchen! LOL

Please do not give your dog cat food, not even a little bit. Cats have entirely different nutrient requirements than dogs do, and cat food is formulated for a cat's nutritional requirements, plus it is extremely high in fat. Cats require preformed vitamin A, which is not in dog food and can be toxic to dogs. Cat food also contains arachidonic acid which is detrimental to dogs. I really think canned dog food would be much better if you must add something.

Suzanne I understand how worrisome it can be when your doodle doesn't eat. Tara is a very selective eater too. But I do agree with Nancy that it is best for them to just eat their food without toppers. If you want gravy perhaps you could buy the matching canned dog food to add to the kibble. For example, Tara's Taste of the Wild food comes in the same flavors in kibble and canned. You could just add a little canned food and some water to make gravy. I guess technically it is still a topper but it would be a healthy one. :)
