Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi everyone,

We already have a 7 month old goldendoole whom  we LOVE TO DEATH. My husband, my 2 kids and I are completely crazy about him. He is 25 inch high and about 55 pounds. We enjoy big dogs. We want another big  goldendoodle. I have been searching all over the Internet but could not find a breeder that has a large GD.

Any advice/recommendation is greatly appreciated.

Have a great day,

nalan

Bigger than your current dog, keeping in mind that he is still growing?

According to his breeder, he has already reached his maximum height, he may gain some extra pounds.

He is going to gain quite a few pounds in the next 6 months or so. They don't stop gaining lean muscle mass until they are 15-18 months old. He is going to be over 60 lbs at least, possibly closer to 70. I wouldn't be so sure about his height, either. 7 months is very young to have reached full skeletal growth.

Thank you, I hope so :-)). He is like a walking sheep, that what my mother calls him.

There is no doodle size larger than "standard". That's the largest size any reputable breeder is producing.

But there are 55 lb standards and 110 lb standards, and everything in between. Your current dog may well end up 70 lbs when he is full grown. My guy is 85 lbs, and there are a LOT of standard doodles here who are 90 and 100 lbs and even larger.

We were told that ours would be maximum 60-65 pounds which is  fine. We really enjoy big dogs. We all play with him all the time. My husband works from home, basically 2 adult is always home with Aslan in addition to 2 kids (10, and 13) He gets plenty of socialization and play time (I think more than he really wants :-)).  We are hoping to get another larger GD or I may end up with Saint Bernard.

Thanks

Here's a link to the GANA website. Check your state, there is a GD breeder with standard litters planned right in your state.

Thank you, I will.

I was going to recommend you start with GANA as well. I see Karen provided you the link. That is definitely a great starting point. Breeders have strict requirements to be GANA certified (genetic health testing, etc)
