So... Luna has somehow figured out how to get out of her car harness.  For now she's in the trunk (will probably move her to the back seat as soon as I make her some sort of seat cover).  The last few weeks we have been travelling with her and ended up with her escaping and suddenly doing this (this was taken a long time ago, before we got a harness):

Catching a breeze on the way home

I don't have a pic (and DH is at work, can't take one), but it's like this one:

I use a double-ended strap, loop it around one of the anchors in the car and attach both ends to the two loops on Luna's back.  The chest straps are just loose enough for me to fit my hand in there so she has some breathing room.

Any suggestions on how I can keep her contained?  DH says he saw her scrunch down and wiggle her elbows backwards through the straps to get out while pulling away from the anchor point...

Those dogs!  If you are looking for a good seat cover, we got Brinkley a seat hammock.  It covers latches on over the headrests of the front seats and the back seats to create a hammock so the foot holes are covered.  Brinkley always seemed anxious of falling into the foot holes in the back seat-- but as soon as started using the hammock he relaxed and loves car rides.  We got a grey one from Petsmart-- b/c they carry one that has a zipper in the middle-- that way if someone needs to ride in the back, I can unzip half of it.

Here's the one we got:  http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2753713&f=P...

Yeah I've heard great things about those hammocks, I don't think it would work for us though.  We're expecting a baby and the carseat needs to go in the middle, so Luna will have to be sitting in one of the side seats.  She's a mini so that should be enough space for her.

Maybe I can make something a bit like the hammock with a blanket and some scissors ;)

We are expecting a baby too, but I plan to put the car seat behind the passenger seat... and then Brinkley will be behind me. Congrats BTW!

Thanks, you too!  Babies all over :)

Heather, thanks for posting this.  We have a hammock but it does not have the zipper and it is a big pain when someone needs to be in the back seat.  I'm ordering one now:)

You're welcome!  You know, Brinkley actually stopped getting carsick when I bought the hammock as a puppy.  I think he had such anxiety of falling.  The day I bought the hammock was the day he stopped throwing up in the car.  :)

That is exactly how my Chase got out of his harness, he lay down and pulled back until it came off over his arms and head!! I have yet to find a design he can't get out of. He even worked out how to get the buckle out of the part where it was plugged in like a seatbelt!! I am a bad doodle mommy as I just gave up on a harness for him.
