Hi All,
Bens been licking his foot so I looked at it to see why and a really thick layer is gone! Obviously it's bothering him and I was wondering what I'm supposed to do. It's Sunday so the vet is closed and thinking if I take him to the ER? My poor baby :(
See picture. Sorry I'm on my phone so I can only do attachment

We keep a spray bottle of Vetericyn at home for occasions just like this.

I hope Ben is better this morning, and I hope you are too!

I think you have gotten great advice, so all I will add is I hope Bender feels better very soon.

How is it looking today, Joanna?

it looked a little better this morning.  Not so raw and fresh.  Thank you for asking :)

thank you everyone so much for all your advice and concerns.  I have Bens foot in a sock and he keeps it on when I'm home but I find Zoe playing with it if I leave them alone.

Bought some Epsom salt and will soak his foot today and see how he does.  I did notice that a small layer of his pad on his bed this morning but i couldn't tell where it was from.  Probably the same foot.

question... Is Chlorexidine and Vetericyn the same?  I want to buy them too but not sure if its used for the same purpose.

I think you will need to dilute the Chlorehexidine first. You can use Vetericyn straight from the bottle and it's also safe around eyes since it is alcohol free. But you should be fine with either one, I believe.

Ouch!  I hope he's feeling better today.

Just keep it clean. Keep him resting as much as possible and put on some sox or boots. One of our girls literally ran her pads raw on a beach that was crushed shell .She was fine is a couple of days.
