Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I just saw that Rudy was adopted!! For some reason, that guy haunted my thoughts and if we didn't have three already, I would have driven to FL and got him myself. I talked to my husband about it more than once. Although the stories are usually a little sad, his struck a nerve (maybe because I turned 50 this year?). So glad that someone saw how special he was.

So very happy to come here and find out that Rudy is home at last.
I can't seem to find his story anywhere. I vaguely remember parts of it but can someone share it again?
Here's the info from his original listing:
MEET RUDY!- Rudy is a handsome and sweet 6 year old Labradoodle boy who is in desperate need of a very special "furever" home and family. He is a BIG boy at 100 lbs. and he has a soft, mixed wool/fleece non-shedding coat that will require grooming every 6-8 weeks.
Poor Rudy has lost the only home he has ever known because his former owners retired and wanted to travel. What makes Rudy's story so upsetting besides the fact that he was bought for the family's then teenage children and surrendered to DRC for the most selfish, self serving and cruel reasons, is that he happens to be a special needs dog with a seizure disorder. We are devastated and heartbroken for poor Rudy who happens to be the sweetest, most gentle, easy going and loveable guy. We so want to find him the perfect forever home and family!
Rudy is a well-mannered, gentle soul with a laid back, easy going temperament and personality. He is a big teddy bear of a dog who loves everyone that he meets. He is still a young dog and has plenty of love to give.He loves to go for walks, rides in the car and to chase a ball in the yard. Due to his condition and his medication he is less active than other doodles and this energetic moments come in spurts. We are still in the process of trying to determine Rudy's perfect level of medication with our vets.
Rudy is really the kind of dog who is content to lay at your feet. He loves to curl up on couch for some belly rubs and loving. This is a guy who loves to stick close to his people. He is a very loving, devoted, people-focused snuggle-bug who does not deserve the hand that he has been dealt! What Rudy does deserve is a family that is as special as he is, and a home where he will be safe, loved, cherished and treated like a king for the rest of his life.
Rudy's epilepsy is easily managed with inexpensive, twice daily medication (Phenobarbital). He still has occasional mild seizures and will need to see a veterinarian every 6 months or so for blood work. We recently discovered he is highly allergic to Potassium Bromide and will actually go into full anaphylaxis on that medication. Rudy can only tolerate the Phenobarbital.
Rudy will need a very special dog-savvy, adult family who are as gentle, sweet, patient and easy going as Rudy. A fenced in yard is an absolute must because we discovered that Rudy has no compass. Without a fence, he will wander and keep wandering with absolutely no idea where he is or how to get back home. He would be happiest in a home where someone is around for at least part of the day and would be a wonderful canine companion for empty nesters or retirees. Rudy is neutered, completely house-trained, basic manners trained, micro-chipped, UTD on all vaccines and preventatives and will be wonderful addition to the right family.

And Laurie's wonderful blog about him; notice that is was wirtten more than two months ago. Rudy has been waiting a long time:
It was Laurie's blog that first introduced me to Rudy...and I kept checking back...hoping. I'd get sad. Then mad. I knew I was probably "reading" into the pictures but something about him seemed so incredibly sweet. I'm so happy that Rudy isn't going to be rehomed again. That just looks like the most beautiful bed in the world to me right now!
Cyndi, He touched my heart, too. I was so worried about him and checked every day to see if he was adopted. I am so very happy his foster mother kept him and he did not have to start over again with another family. God bless all the people who foster!
Such a great story and happy ending! He looks like a sweetie!
The End :)
Whew, that was a long one, but certainly a wonderful and happy ending
Love!
