My husband and I went to see Bolt in 3D yesterday. It was a fantastic movie! (I like cartoons with a good story. Loved Shrek, Monsters Inc., Toy Story, etc. If you liked those movies, then you'll enjoy Bolt.)
The animators really captured dogs. For example, when Bolt laid down to take a nap, he circled the spot a few times before curling up. Sidiqi does that all the time. I don't want to ruin any surprises for anyone, so I won't say too much. The basic premise of the movie is that Bolt is a TV superdog who saves his owner, a little girl, week after week. In order to keep his emotions pure for the viewing audience, Bolt is never told that his world is make-believe. He truly believes that his little girl is in mortal danger all the time, so he can never relax and be a dog. When he's accidentally sent to New York, he'll have to find his way back to Hollywood without a single superpower.
The hamster, Rhino, was hilarious. I laughed throughout the movie and - I'm a little embarrassed to admit - tears rolled down my cheeks toward the end. I'm a softie. The story was that good.
The movie shows in 3D only in select theatres. Honestly, the 3D was really cool, but I don't think it affected my enjoyment of the story. If you can't get to a 3D theatre, you'll still love the movie.
