Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

As we begin to think about adding another doodle to our family, I was curious as to what factors went into your color choice of a doodle. Did you just fall in love with the puppy and color didn't matter? Was color a major deciding factor? Maggie is cream colored w/ brownish nose, loved the light color, and wanted something that wouldn't change too much.

For our second doodle, I was leaning toward something different like all black or dark chocolate with hopefully a black nose, but was afraid the color would change alot as the adult coat came in. We want something different for our second, just not sure how different....if that makes sense.

Just curious as to others color preferences......Thanks!

I really appreciate all of your thoughts. Love reading about and seeing pictures of all your doodles. Your feedback has reminded me of what is most important. My kids have their "wish list" of characteristics they would like in secondly doodle, but temperament is my number one priority. If the temperament is right for our family, the color won't matter! Thanks again!

When I decided I wanted a Goldendoodle my original dreams were of a red one. Once I contacted a breeder my criteria was that it was available at  the end of the school year.  We were on the waiting list with a particular litter of apricot females.  The breeder posts pictures of available puppies that I looked at often.  One day this gorgeous red male was on there and it was the first red one I had seen on their site.  He had this big black nose and was curly and I instantly fell in love.  We picked him up a week later 3 weeks before school got out.  It was fate!!  They say the dog chooses you right?
