My mini golden doodle Jaxon who is 10.5 months loves to tear apart everything and anything that he finds, including a plastic container and a pencil... not to mention any paper that he finds. We have to chase him around until we corner him and pry it out of his mouth. Hope it's just a phase...

I know, literately any paper...bills which I don't mind) :-) paper towels, newspaper...ect. I wonder if he will grow out of it?
The "leave it" and "drop" commands are life savers, but having said that he is an adolescent and the behavior is typical IMO.
Honestly, Owen was a paper magnet. We couldn't figure out where he found it all. His poop was pure cellulose for a long time. He is almost three and rarely eats paper any more (but it's always a possibility). Good luck with your pup and keep us posted on his progress. ;o)
Ned was especially obsessed with paper from TP and Kleenex to books and their covers. He outgrew the worst of it and doesn't chew up books or whole boxes of tissues, but he will still get single tissues and paper trash.
Laughing is exactly what we have to do! Such a silly doodle!
Luna had a period where her nickname was "land shark". She could NOT stop biting EVERYTHING in sight. Thankfully she never had a taste for furniture.. just carpets, paper, toilet paper, socks, hands... pretty much everything else :p
I second Christine's suggestion that "leave it" and "drop it" are very important tools to have during this stage.
