We are having a problem with pooping in the kennel. I've spoken before about this and I was hoping it would get better, it has gotten worse. I've made her kennel as small as I can. We've cut down her food to 3 meals..about 1/3 cup each time. She is eating IAMS puppy. She doesn't even care if she's in it. I have to give her baths in the morning. She usually poops around 9pm..then it happens after 3am. THinking about changing to BLUE Dog food? Any suggestions??

I would get her off IAMS puppy, I am feeding Stella (Origin), and she is doing great, never had an issue with pooping in her crate. Is her stool hard or messy?? I only feed her twice a day 1/3 of a cup at 6am and 6pm. Stella will poop anywhere from 2-3 times a day. I hope it get's better that is not fun:(

I doubt this is related to the type of food, unless she is pooping in her crate due to uncontrollable or urgent diarrhea. However, Iams is a lousy brand, and in fact just yesterday the announced massive recalls, so I'd get her off that ASAP.
Does she get walked at night before bed? Not just a quick potty trip outside, but a good long walk, or a good hard play session?
Unfortunately, this issue is mostly related to the place where she was bred and where she spent her early weeks before coming to you. Not much you can do about that now, it is just going to take longer and require more patience to get her housebroken.
I will get her off IAMS ASAP!! But she plays hard until she basically drops down and falls asleep. She's only 10wks old. Maybe we are feeding her too much?
I was told by the vet to mix the food for a week, with her new dog food. And I was told to feed her 2/3 cup per day right now. Hopefully this will get better for you very soon. Is she on any medications? Did she have any of the girardia??
She had a trace of girardia. Maybe we are feeding too much. But she doesn't seem to finish what we put in bowl. My husband is with her during the day and I come home before 5. She's really only in kennel max of 2 -3 hours during the day. She's not on any medications now. We take her back to vet on Tuesday. Sometimes stools are runny and sometimes not.
Good question, Donna. I was wondering that myself. Either there are giardia cysts present in the stool, or there aren't; and if there are, you have to treat it.
she was treated...my husband took her to the vet..and I'm not happy with the vet we went to. Probably will take her to another. They didn't even tell him how much she weighed.
What meds was she on, and when?
