We did it - we got another one!  How do you decide when is a good time? How do you determine which dog?

It's time and he was there.

He is a rehome, fourteen months old, has had some training (needs more!),  but he's a love. He needs to lose weight - ten or more lbs easily - my guess is that he clears 80lbs and he has enormous bones.  He moves like - and has feet like a Polar Bear.  This week will be vet visit, groomer, and lots of patience.

Intro went well and the two dogs played and played yesterday.   He managed to get halfway through my daily 'test' of down/stay - nearly half hour - for  feeding rituals.   He rode home like a pro.  He picked the green beans out of his dinner bowl and put them on the floor.   He drinks gobs of water.  He is seriously people oriented - wonderful with small children - spent the night on the floor by the bed (too big for crate we have) so we let Journey have the floor also for the night.  They are still snoring :)

Lots of work ahead - so I am asking for good thoughts and some moral support.  We weren't crazy about a puppy again, have been looking here and there = high and low.  He looks and moves like an old dog - but he's a youngster.  A mellow fellow - thus far.  He paces, he sticks like glue to us, and he is not much of a fetcher. He has gobs of thick cream fleece - it's curly/wavy, thick and feels not unlike wool (gads he needs a bath) - our groomer has a big day coming... Green eyes, liver nose - sort of the flip side of the coin - our very feminine girl now has a big galoot for a brother!

I love that grey color.

Congratulations and sounds like a perfect match!  I am so happy for you and your family. I love the name you picked for him and he seems like a love of a Doodle!  He is beautiful and looks so huggable.  Enjoy your new addition and sending good thoughts and hugs to you!

Congrats on your new addition!!!  Sounds like he is getting along just great in your home!!!  He is a beautiful boy, enjoy!   I keep teasing my husband about getting another doodle and a playmate for Luna - he is solidly against it... (for now).

Definitely sending positive thoughts and best wishes your way Sally!  Glad that you have given this dog a good home and he will now get the training that he deserves.  So very happy to hear that he gets along with your other dog...I'm sure they will be the best of friends in no time...take care!  He is absolutely gorgeous!

Congrats on your new big handsome boy!!  Can't wait to see pictures of the two dogs together!

Oh, he is beautiful.  I couldn't have resisted either.  You will love a two-doodle family.  Our two are as opposite as night and day.  Oh, you may want to remove those shoes (in the background) at least until he is more familiar with house rules. Hopefully he is over the chewing stage, but you never know.

Our big guy is too large for a crate also so we had to fix up the back of "their" car for two big dogs.  We took apart pens to make a barrier and they have the whole back of our Ford Freestyle as their area.  It is a hatchback and all we have to do is flip up the hatch and they are in.  We put a truck bed liner in that area so it is easy to clean up (especially after our frequent beach trips).  We also made a memory foam pad (covered with fabric) that covers the area for longer trips.

Just a few suggestions from our two-doodle family.  Enjoy.  We will love seeing your photos.  And did I say - HE is gorgeous.  Love his color.

Congratulations on your handsome doodle. What is his name? Enjoy him.

What a doll (reminds me of Gavin - who is also a galoot).  What are you calling him?

So handsome!  Good luck - look forward to the updates!

It looks like his name is going to be Mauka - it's Hawaiian for mountain, he really is a big boy.  Morning has been going well - he actually did some chewing on her toys and she put up with it - no guarding here.

He tooke up the whole back seat in our Outback - - yes we used to have a gate thing across our old car and that was where our Shepherd rode - - believe me, it is not out of the picture - but we sure can't get two crates in there.
