Chester is so darling!!! What a cutie-pie. Your "problem" is common. They even have a name for the trim you mentioned getting... it's called a "sanitary trim". Doodles need the hair around their bottom clipped short to prevent the situation you mention.

Chester is adorable!!! Yep, it happened to my guy also. Get a sani cut, but I recommend asking for a scissor cut rather than being cut by clippers as sometimes a clipper cut causes soreness.......I learned the hard way with the bottom scooting after grooming :-(
Can someone explain the bottom scooting thing to me. Madiba does it every now and then, looks like she's trying to,walk like a crab. The first time I saw her do,that I nearly pissed myself I laughed so,hard. She's my first puppy. Someone said its because she needs to,have her glands "expressed". Is it because her butt is sore,or itches?

It is amusing till they do it on your carpet. :O
Yep, something is bothering her. Have the vet check her for worms or swollen glands and have a groomer give her a trim. She may have some mats that are bothering her. I love her coloring. :) Party on Madiba!

We have found out that Hazel needs a little clipping around that area also.  However, she doesn't scream but does scoot. One a different yet same topic, can some one give me the highlights of bell training?  We have a bell by the back door and I push Hazel up to it before we go outside to potty and even take the bell with me and ring it when she does potty, but she hasn't rung it on her own yet.  Am we doing something wrong or maybe she just isn't ready. She turned 4 months a couple days ago.

Note:  She has only had about 4 accidents inside the house in the month we have had her.  We are grateful for that!

Aww Sweetie <3
We got Chopper trimmed but it does not help that he steals paper towels, eats them then when he goes potty they get stuck in his poo which scares him and he runs all over and in circles till we can pull it out. :/ Oy.

I have this same problem with Finn! I think it must be a doodle thing bc none of my other dogs have had this problem! The worst part is that Finn won't let me wipe him or clip his hair. It happens about once or twice a week and is always a struggle to get him to let me clean him up. I did get him cut recently and that has helped but any advice others can give on preventing the problem entirely would be awesome!
