Stella is now 15 month and spayed. Twice this week she has had diarrhea in the house. (I think she is getting into something outside) now that she figured out the electric fence she is happy as can be checking out the yard and seems to regularly find interesting friends... turtle, frogs, birds.....

So I am not sure what she got into, but this time, there are droplets of blood separate from the diarrhea. So not sure if they are connected. I have seen other droplets of blood stains outside on my drive, and wondered where they came from.

Also her #1 potty area seems to always a dark stained color. And dark... not yellowish. not sure if that is nomal,

I've read that sometimes the vet may have missed an ovary during the spay surgery... but she is acting fine otherwise. Any ideas???

I would have her checked for a UTI and take both a urine and poop sample into the vet.  She should be seen by your vet, too. Good luck!

Yes and I wouldn't let her outside alone for now....you need to watch her to try to get to the bottom of the bleeding.  Hopefully this is nothing serious...please keep us posted.

Ditto.

I would take her to the vet with samples as suggested.  Good luck!

Thank you! I have an appointment this afternoon.... now what's the trick to getting the urine sample, trying to avoidn the pre-trip to the vet to get the kit.

People use a ladle sometimes and try to get it under the dog but it's tricky.

I'd just use a large disposable plastic container and follow her around the yard until she squats. At my vet's office, they use a long handled ladle to catch the urine.

Like Karen and F.said, a soup ladle works. You don't need very much for a urine sample.

Very difficult to get a urine sample - wish I had a good trick for you but not so much.  Good luck and keep us updated!

I used a yogurt container and followed her around on a short leash - as soon as she squatted, I put it under her tail but she did not like it!  Good thing is that you don't need too much for testing!  Hope all turns out well!  Good luck!

I used a ladle once to get a urine specimen from Ellie. It worked great! I put it in a ziplock bag and dropped it by the vet. Worth a try. Good Luck~
So, after two tries with the yogurt container I was able to get the urine. Took her to vet and they found no bacteria in urine. I wasn't able to get a stool sample so need to do that on Tuesday. In the meantime (due to the runny stool she is on a bland diet.) and pro-biotics in her food.Thinks she may have gotten bacteria from the lake/pond water. I find the blood concerning though...
