I just took Bailey to play with her friend Rudy in his fenced yard. I always unleash her and make her sit and wait about 10 feet outside the gate until Rudy's mommy opens the gate then I say "OK" and she runs into the yard to play. Well...tonight she ran to the gate but about 3 feet shy of the opening she cut to the left and grabbed something from the ground and started to run away with it. I yelled "LEAVE IT" and she stopped and dropped it and looked at me!! I caught up with her right away as she had only gone a few feet from the gate and I saw that it was a disgusting dead bird crawling with ants!!! Bless her heart that she responded so well..... I am so proud of her and thankful to everyone who has said how important the "leave it" command is!!! Guess who is not going to be giving her mommy kisses tonight until teeth are brushed and face is washed??!!

OMD ! Maybe Luca and Calle wanted you to make rabbit stew for dinner?? Seriously though...I don't know which is worse....fresh kill or a rotten corpse!!
On the other hand, many a baby rabbit has survived here in my yard because JD's "leave it" command is so solid, he will leave a rabbit's nest or even a baby bunny outside the nest alone if I give the command.
He actually once had a baby rabbit in his mouth and set it back down!
Excellent! I wish I could say the same for Quincy-he is the biggest teaser when he gets something he knows he should not have. We so need to work on that! Hey Bailey- are you available for tutoring? Good girl!
Hey Quincy, don't tease your mom! I bet she would give you a yummy treat if you just drop what she doesn't want you to have. And...she will give you lots of belly rubs and lovin' too! Love, Bailey xo
that's just fantastic for both of you!!!
Way to go Bailey and nice job training Gail..
