I posted this in The Rescued Doodles group, but it really belongs here in the main forum, too. Please join me in thanking Lynne NJ, who is such an important part of DK, and who has given so much help to so many of us.
In the beginning, there was a woman who had lost her beloved standard poodle to the tragedy of the pet food recalls of 2007. After adopting two homeless doodles with many socialization & fear issues, and wanting to share experiences with others in similar circumstances, she started a discussion group called Rescued Doodles. In the beginning, it was just Lynne & I, talking to one another about Ginger & the "Jacks" issues. Slowly, others joined us. The focus expanded...from our own doodles, Lynne moved on to issues of puppy mills, public laws, rescue groups, and help for doodles without homes.
The Rescued Doodles Group now has 105 members, and the number of dogs who have been helped through this group is countless. Lynne has brought this issue to the attention of many people who had no idea that so many of these expensive designer dogs were languishing in shelters and even in danger of being euthanized. She has inspired so many of us to take up the cause of finding homes for them, and educating the public in general on puppy mills and the horrendous circumstances that exist for some of these dogs we love.
Lynne is the best dog mom I have ever known, bar none. She is an example to every one of us in how to love & care for our dogs. A full-time teacher with a husband and twin teenaged sons, she still finds time to cook & bake for her three adopted dogs, to do whatever it takes to ensure that her previously frightened and neglected doodles are and remain happy and secure, to spend countless hours advising others on how to feed & care for our own doodles, and to advocate for all dogs everywhere. I could never repay her for all the help she has given me in dealing with Jackdoodle's issues, and for just providing moral support.
The Food Group, which is totally inspired and co-administered by Lynne, is a whole other discussion in itself...I know there are so many of you whose dogs are living healthier and happier lives because of Lynne's guidance and advice.
So today, I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to Lynne on behalf of myself, Jackdoodle, and all the dogs she has helped because of her enormous heart. Thank you, Lynne, from the bottom of my own heart. We love you.
