three things my 7 month old puppy does, just wonder if they are typical. My first dog since I was a kid and just surprised at these behaviors.

1) stretches like crazy, especially after being crated, both front and back legs, arches back like a cat, stretches out each leg separately. His crate is plenty big enough, do all dogs do this?

2) sneezes every morning when he gets up - occasionally other times but always sneezes in the morning.

3) great, now I forgot the third thing! Well, I know that is typical behavior for my age, so when I remember (probably in the middle of the night) I'll add it.

Oh we call that Doggie YOGA!  Everyday throughout the day especially after laying for any period of time.  And yes always in the morning and my girls have full bed access!  Josie even makes a halarious noise when she does the full stretch.  Notice they have plenty of room to stretch out, the question is always where do I sleep???  This is what happens when you are not the first in bed, I made the mistake showering first.  Last one in gets the foot of the bed! lol  My girls are so spoiled.  Ü

Come to think of it Sassparilla sneezes more often than Josie?  I've never thought about it????

My doodles stretches when she comes out of her crate in the morning. She also has to stretch before I put her collar and leash when we go for our walk! This second one is like a ritual, I just wait patiently! When she is finished, she sits so nicely when I put the collar on her! She does not sneeze!
I remembered! He acts bored. We walk him at least 2 times a day, sometimes 3. We play with him, he has tons of toys but when I do house work or just want to read or watch TV , he acts like he's bored. How much time do people spend with their dogs?

we too have the 'independent play time' issue.  I ended up purchasing a couple of interactive toys that require him to remove parts, work a puzzle, etc.  one toy was a turtle and the turtle shell had babies in it, and the dog had to figure out how to get the babies out!  another toy was a rubber ball that I shove a treat into, and he works the ball in order to get the treat out., OR sometimes I use a goat cheese chew (himylain chew) or an antler for those times when I need to get things done!

hope you can find something. My thoughts (hope) that just as you can train kids to be independent, the dogs will be trained to do so as well. Ha ha ha

I think the independent play time comes with age. There was a time when Enzo needed to have me in her sights 24/7, or she would be barking or crying. She'd bring whatever available toy to where ever I was and play. If I got up, she got up. As she has gotten older , that has waned a bit. She just turned 16weeks, so I expect it will get even better. I can't say she has ever acted " bored" tho.
Oh yes, Chester loves to stretch & then he does my favorite thing, the whistle yawn. He will stretch 5 or 6 times! :-) its the doodle way!

That's also called a "pupsqueak"!
