Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi I just recently joined doodle kisses. Our background is that we had an awesome three year old Aussie doodle who we lost to cancer and we want another dog but my husband really wants to avoid the whole puppy chewing stage. I've looked at some shelter lists and some breeders but does anyone have a better suggestion for searches for a 1-2 year old dog? We had a great dog before and are willing to wait until we find another dog that is the right fit for our family, I just didn't think it would be such slim pickings. All the best, jeannette

Check out the bottom of the main page...there you can find dogs who are looking for a good home through the DRC. Right now there is an Aussiedoodle who I love! His name is Fenway. Check him out!

Hi Jeannette, and welcome to Doodle Kisses

Wow, I am so sorry you lost your dog at such a young age.  Been there myself :(

How about driving to Ohio and get a pair of nice adult doodles who need a home together!!

On DK there are two main national rescue groups that place doodles on the front page.

Here are their links and address.  These two groups can also be found on FB

Doodle Rescue Collective Inc.

http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/NJ592.html

The other group is IDOG and at this time I am not finding their address.  Someone will add it soon.

Here is a real handsome Multi Gen Australian Doodle ( ALD ) in your area.

MA-Dewey: Standard Poodle, Dog; Lexington, MA

thanks, I do check these sites regularly so I'll keep looking. Jeannette

ps Yes, there are two sets of beautiful "two-ers" on the rescue sites but I think my husband would just hand me the divorce papers right now if I came home with two dogs.......

Do you have young children?

Here is another way to look at all rescues all over the country

  • Go to Petfinder.com
  • Type: Zip code and Standard Poodle ( nothing else)
  • Repeat the above step and type in just poodle. You may want to at this time go over and select size when you just type in poodle.  This helps narrow it down.

Since there are no breeds as a:  Goldendoodle, Labradoodle, AussieDoodle you will get all the dogs listed as Poodle Mix

Repeat the steps above and enter: Sheepdog, Wheaton, Bearded Collie, and other hairy dogs you might think of.

Many rescues have NO IDEA what type of dog they are dealing with and will list as a best guess. Often they are wrong.

Do stay OFF of Craigslist
