What is it with this dog this week?  This morning we went to the trash and on the way back Meg made a fast circle, picked up something and ran for her yard...I cleverly called her into the house, made her sit, put my hand under her mouth (what could I have been thinking) and told her drop it and she promptly dropped something the size and color of a large toad right into my hand.  I yelped and threw it, turned out to be nothing but a rock, have I  mentioned what a coward I am?  later, we went to get the mail, she does a down stay and does it well, I go back toward the house with a heel command and she heads to the left and fixates on a small clump of leaves.  Great, is she going to chase another rock/ toad?  Nope, she jumps back and then edges forward, jerks her snout back in a hurry and then tests the waters again.  Never let it be said that I am not a little bit curious so I edge closer and suddenly see about a 12" yellow and black baby snake.  I am never trusting this dog again, apparently she will play with anything.

Black Widow Spiders too. Well I'll definitely stay waaay up here in the nice cold North !

You might want to check in to the Snake training that Nancie's Gracie Doodle goes to!

AHHHHH!!!!  i thought you were going to say she dropped a snake into your hand!!!!

Oh Meg, yuck!

I think I would faint on the spot. Non toads are one thing but real snakes ????? Yikes.

Yikes. I would stop putting my hands under her mouth. LOL I would die if one of my dogs dropped a snake near me.

Meg...you are too funny...silly girl...she's going to keep you on your toes Judy!

snakes! yikes.  I guess I would work on the drop command for Meg simultaneously with a run fast action for Mom in the future.

Sadie is terrified of snakes--the times she's seen one in the yard she has jumped three feet straight up in the air. She even gets nervous around snake-shaped objects, like fallen branches. Although we have very few poisonous snakes in Florida, I am glad she's not interested in ANY of them!

Ok, I've never seen "She brought me a snake" as a reason for rehoming a doodle, but I might have to use it should that happen .... just kidding, but I might have to move at least!  I do not do snakes!
