I cannot find a website for this breeder. What health testing is done on the breeding dogs?

I do not know the specific testing but it seemed all the appropriate testing was done. She is not a big breeder. This will only be her second time doing this....

But you answered the question that you had seen proof of genetic testing:

Were you  allowed to view health records and testing for the parent dogs or other dogs  owned by the breeder?

Yes

Why would you say that if you did not see the testing?

Unfortunately, I do not believe this "breeder" qualifies to be listed in this group. The rules of the group state quite clearly:Breeders who do not health test or that can not provide proof of testing are not eligible for recommendation. health records consist of OFA / PennHIP, CERF, PRA, vWD, Thyroid, Heart. A letter from the vet stating a dog is ok to breed is NOT clearance for breeding

I believe this is is just someone who bred her pet dog, which is not what responsible breeding is all about. We all love our doodles and think they are great, but that doesn't mean they all had great breeders. Reputable breeders have websites where the results of the parents' genetic testing can be viewed and verified.

2) A responsible breeder only breeds dogs that have passed rigorous health testing.
This means MORE than yearly vet check-ups. What health testing has been done on the parent dogs? Two dogs may seem perfectly healthy on the outside and may even pass their yearly checkups at the vet with flying colors--but a lot of diseases are not visible to the naked eye. Without rigorous health testing, a number of conditions can be passed down to puppies.

For starters, ask to see PROOF that they have passing OFA or PennHIP hip scores on both parents. Then ask for proof of eye clearance either through CERF or PRA. CERF must be done annually and PRA is a genetic test that need only be done once for clearance. Von Willebrands disease is a bleeding disorder similar to hemophilia...poodles have it more often than retrievers, but it can be found in Goldens too...so ask for genetic clearance for this disease too. Beyond that many do basic genetic testing for all sorts of things and of course annual vet clearances...but just vet clearances aren't enough. Breeders bring new dogs in to the world...if they don't care to do all they can to ensure optimum health...go to someone else who does.

Please excuse me as I do not know all the lingo, but YES, I was provided with all of that info-proof from the vet-check-ups, hips, heart, etc.  Everything....I was just "vouching" for the breeder who is wonderful and professional and anyone would be very lucky to get a dog from her.  Thanks-
