Do I give in?

As you know Jack broke his tail the other day and is on narcotics, NSAIDs and tummy coaters. Yesterday he got IV fluids...today he won't eat anything but a few bites if hard boiled egg and a piece of cheese........he will not eat his food.

I am most concerned about fluids...he isn't showing signs of being in pain but he won't drink...his gums are slightly tacky but I don't know if I should just let him eat eggs and nothing else.

He will not drink broth.........but will eat treats only.

Would he eat homemade food like chicken and sweet potatoes?

No I cooked him meals..salmon......all his favorites.....tried Molly's canned wellness he won't touch anything!

Can you put some water in whatever you feed him so that he gets the liquid when he eats?

The only thing he will eat is egg yokes and treats. He will take no fluids.

What about scrambling the whole egg? You can thin it with a little water.

Dry gums along with droopy eyes, panting & lack of energy are signs of dehydration. If you cannot get some fluids in by way of his food you should call your vet. An IV will get him going again. Be careful, dogs, puppies, can dehydrate quickly. Adding water or broth to the food is a good idea.

Even homecooked chicken & vegetables is about 80% water by weight.

Some dogs will eat frozen juice bars. Or drink water if you add a little plain unsweetened apple juice to it.

Jck had 300 Mls of iv fluids sub q yesterday so he is still safe...he is not panting or acting bad.in fact, he is barking a lot and jumping up often at house noises...he has zero interest in ice ..ice cream or pops but I am going to make him scrambled eggs with water in it...

He won't eat..tuna salmon. Potatoes ....I am about to try eggs again...thanks!!!

The scrambled egg worked it was thinned with water but then I added water and made mush soup like and he had to drink the water to get egg ..he did it...not a lot of water but he ate whole egg and some water...plus his tail was up as he did it! Thanks for the ideas! Xo

That  was what I meant when I suggested that you add water to whatever you were feeding him.
