Ok, to say I am getting frustrated would be an understatement.  The chewing has been going on for a couple of months now.  It seemed like it got really bad after a day at the lake in the tall grasses. A month ago he got treated for a ho spot.  The cone, the food change, antihistamines.  He seemed a little better then he flared up in a big way.  Scratching his ears, chewing more hot spots.  He was back to the Vet for a steroid shot, some Temaril and hydrocordisone spray.  The poor guy has been living in the cone.

When I walk him it is in the middle of the road away from the grass.  I wash his feet when we come in.  I have changed to washing my floors with vinegar.  He hasn't gone to doggy day care.  And still, this morning even with the cone on he managed to open up his wound.   So in less than a week the steroid shot has lost it's effectiveness.

We ran an allergy test last week and hopefully will get some results but I am kind of at a loss.  I have been rubbing tea tree oil on his paws.  I know the allergy test won't test for food.  I got a recommendation for Zignature food.  It has very few ingredients.

Any thoughts?

Kris,   put this post in the Food Group so Karen (our resident expert) can see it and hopefully she will have some advice for you.  So sorry little Auggie is having issues!  Sending hugs for the little guy!

What are you currently feeding Auggie?

We switched him from TOTW bison about a month ago after he started showing signs of an allergy.  He is currently on Nutri Source seafood.  I may switch to Zignature if we find the allergy test comes up clean for environmental and poits to food.  I think it is more seasonal and I think grasses.  He loves the new food and it has pro-biotics in it.
