Kona had his allergy skin test done today and I'm happy to say it was totally negative!!! Since we got home, he's been very quite and just wants to sleep cuddled beside me. When he does get up, he just stands in one place and I have to coax him to move...so not like him! He has not wanted to eat but is drinking so that's good. It's now the middle of the night where we live and I'm up with him cause he won't settle and go to sleep. He is panting on and off and once in awhile he whimpers. I'm so sad for my dood.
for those of you out there that have had skin testing done, is this what you experienced with your dog? He was sedated for the testing so I know the sleepiness is probably from that but he's just not himself and it's got me worried. I wonder if he's in pain? My vet said I could try a cold compress on the area for a couple minutes at a time but Kona doesn't want the area touched at all. That's why I'm thinking he's in pain.
Anyway, any info those of you who've been through this before can share would be so helpful!

Jackdoodle had a delayed reaction to his skin testing very much like what you are describing, but he did test positive to 15 allergens, and the test site became very inflamed. I ended up taking him to the ER the evening after the testing.
Since Kona did not test positive for anything, it's probably not the same thing. Hopefully, it's just the aftereffects of the anesthetic and he'll be back to normal today. If not, I'd call the dermatologist who did the testing.
Poor Kona! Sounds like he is stressed.
Willow was positive for lots of things, so she was itching like mad after the test for several days (Benedryl helped only a little). She was a little bit sedated immediately after, but she was also wanting to get out of the hospital and looked a bit more hyper and restless than usual.
I hope Kona gets better soon.
Libby was totally not herself when she was recovering from being sedated. She actually refused to lay down to sleep and did some minor whimpering until she finally passed out. But she fought it for hours. I think it just has a weird effect on them and they can't verbalize - but obviously if it continues I'm sure you will call the vet. Good luck!
Happy to report Kona is back to his usual self. He had a rough night but by mid-morning today, he seemed much better.
Thanks for your replies. It helped to hear from others who've been through it.

I'm so glad he's fine!
