I have signed up Cole, our 9 month old mini golden, for agility classes.  He loves to run and I thought this would be a good outlet to use his pent up energy for good instead of evil :) Has anyone else had experience with agility training?

I think there are lots of DK Doodles who do Agility Training.  I did it with Guinness (my mini) and it was fun.  I gave it up when I started his Therapy Dog training, but maybe someday I'll get back to it.  I think the key is to find a good class.  The class I took was okay, except that there were just too many dogs so that each one didn't get enough individual time.  Keep us posted on how it goes.

Our puppy school class has agility at the end.  He loves it and I might look into doing an agility class when this one is over.  It's such good mental AND physical exercise!

My puppy did a six-week agility course this summer and she loved it.  The first time we went she would not do any of the obstacles but the second week, she showed up ready to go.  It was like she spent the week in between thinking things through and mentally rehearsing.

I definitely plan on taking another class this winter when we'll need a place to burn off some energy.

I did Agility with Charlie, and it was so much fun. But our trainer did not permit the dog under 1 year old to participate because of the bone develpment. ( I think) Check out the agility group. They would have a wealth of information.

It is great for you also.  I had Harpo in private agility classes for a while and he was progressing, but it was to difficult for me.  It is stressful and lots of turning around and running.  I have problems with balance and vertigo and I just could not do all the moves that are necessary for the trainer.  It gets easier as you both learn, but it was just too difficult for me.  Enjoy.
